the BIGGEST myth in drum corps is that the bus air conditioner will "kick on any minute if you'd just close the #### windows" <$1 to Bob Kalkofen>

Actually, Madison failed to make finals because they weren't good enough.  The reason they weren't good enough was that the best talent realized that Madison was not going to be allowed to win throughout the '90s and didn't come to Madison anymore.

"Not going to be allowed to win ..." <scratches head> Ummmmm ... "allowed?"

Those golden chalices that Star of Indiana's guard used as props in 1990 were not expensive and imported from Germany, they were styrofoam cups covered with shiny gold-colored wallpaper-type material and cost the corps $7 each.  I learned this in a thread a few months ago about SOI.

On a similar note, Star did not buy expensive new uniforms in '90 and '92 ... those were the same ones they bought in 1989, just with new headgear and accessories.
