bluecoats88
The biggest myth was the answer to when the next rest stop was when travelling on busses with no bathrooms..... 5 more minutes
cage
Let's disspell some other myths:The 1989 Santa Clara Vanguard was the best corps in history until 2002. Kristy Spears, Phantom Regiment drum major from 1995-97, was NOT pregnant during the 1997 season when she wore that spandex. Those golden chalices that Star of Indiana's guard used as props in 1990 were not expensive and imported from Germany, they were styrofoam cups covered with shiny gold-colored wallpaper-type material and cost the corps $7 each. I learned this in a thread a few months ago about SOI. The Mandarins are not all Asian. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ahhhhh... But they USED to be. :) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You beat me to it. Weren't they affiliated with a Korean church? I think they were still all Asian in '92.
DrumCorpsFan27
The biggest myth was the answer to when the next rest stop was when travelling on busses with no bathrooms.....5 more minutes <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Goes along with "all you need is a pop can." I found out the hard way that a large juice jar is required.
Lance
15. Corps are for the kids, not the judges. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah yes, those slave children who march DCI...why do they punish themselves so?
madscout96
Ah yes, those slave children who march DCI...why do they punish themselves so? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In some corps, corps members ARE slave children (see the post in this thread about the myth of "free days", and how in other corps, it's not a myth). And I do remember seeing at least one caucasian guy in Mandarins in 1992.
BluePit2K5
uh... we got freedays... quite a few....Chicago & NYC New Orleans in 04 yes FULL free days <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, we had a FULL free day in Houston.
bluecoats88
I believe at one point you had to be at least part mandarin chinese to march with mandarin. I'm assuming that requirement is no longer in place. And I doubt they were ever associated with a korean church since they were chinese.
