ambassadorhorn
I wanted to submit this to the news page of Drum Corps Planet but I can't see anyway to do that from the home page. :P (High School) Drum and Bugle Corps wins big Favourite quote: The 78-member NPHS Corps remains the only drum and bugle corps in the entire United States. Ooops. I guess Anne didn't try googling on "drum and bugle corps".
quibb-Ashton
They probably mean only high school drum corps... just a thought
JimF-LowBari
Journalism at it's finest :P See they're talking about going to the Apple Blossom Festival. If they mean the one in Winchester, VA it should be interesting as at least two other corps (Shenandoah Sound, Hanover Lancers) usually make that parade. JimF-LowBari
anyone planning on e-mailing Ann and sending a link or two (i.e. dci.org, drumcorpsplanet.com, etc.)??? Wondering if Ann knows better and was misquoted or the words "High School" got dropped from "the only HS Drum Corps". Our local paper has a Corrections section that usually has something in it each day.
ambassadorhorn
They probably mean only high school drum corps... just a thought Yes. I should have said that. Aye, the dangers of simple text. North Port High School Alliance Drum and Bugle Corps is, apparently, the only _high school_ drum corps in the United States. This is what the author of the article should have stated explicitly. Interestingly they compete against bands in band contests (and win!). (DCI troll coming in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1..) 84BDsop
Any links Sam? (I ask myself ) Not for Hawthorne.....thyey don't appear to have a web presense....a shame. They had a real nice brass sound (although I only heard them from the end zone at one show last year...Dream went on right after them at the Westlake Village show). Unfortunately, I can't find the reference of the Florida HS corps....I DO remember mentioning that they could consider going into Div III comp in the region, and a staffer said they were considering it. Their unis resemble the late 90s Crown ones, but in white....anyone remember who they were??
gcsbaribc
The Corps will be taking 100 people on the trip, and needs between $80,000-$100,000 to pay for everyone. The group has been working hard to raise money, selling everything from frozen food to Tupperware to glow sticks for Halloween. (from the article) ***** B) Impressive budget for ONE event. It's too bad that they don't apply that kind of fundraising capability to competing in *real* drum and bugle corps events in the summertime, and give their kids a truly fulfilling marching experience, instead of just doing a parade. I wonder if these kids even know (or care) who the blue devils are?
