dmfootworks
I'm struck by how dispassionate the announcemant and subsequent statements seem -- in a community that's passionate about drum corps and this gathering place! Would like to know what motivated this decision and actions. Is it really just "it's time to move on?" Certainly in a community this large the prospect of a sale from within and the safeguarding against aliens should have been considered. Were any of the "dedicated team of volunteers" consulted? 8va fff
George, I would like to thank you for your time an efforts to grow DCP to what it is today. Having started a few business ventures, I can understand and appreciate your decision. To all the members of this community: I am concerned at what may happen after the sale, other than possible account information issues... in terms of looking at the reason why an investor would want to buy DCP... MONEY. As stated in the "financial statement" on the ebay listing, this site is not loosing money; and real advertsising potential is untapped ect.... Now read between the lines and look at what DCP is. What is to stop a someone from looking at this as a business venture i.e., looking past the advertisment potential to looking at the 13,000+ registered members and considering the revenue potential of charging anywhere us from $0.99 a year to hundreds a year to be allowed to read and post to the boards? It is time to raise capital to meet the buy-it-now price. We need to quickly form a company, elect a board, and sell stock. I propose starting with a block of 10,000 shares at $1.25 a share, and run this as a company; so we can keep DCP to ourselves before someone takes it away from us. Maybe it should cost something to post and read on here ? Any thoughts..... Randy

Bond624
George,What is to stop a someone from looking at this as a business venture i.e., looking past the advertisment potential to looking at the 13,000+ registered members and considering the revenue potential of charging anywhere us from $0.99 a year to hundreds a year to be allowed to read and post to the boards? My answer to this. Not as single thing. But if that were to happen my answer is simple. Start to charge. I am no longer on dcp. If it's free it's me Might sound harsh but I really don't need DCP that bad. Something else will come along to fill my bored time space. Hey Look Solitare. Maybe It's me but in the Senior section it seems to have just hit a wall after some of the changes that have been made. I was also wondering since this is a major issue to a lot of people why are the threads being closed. Not everyone reads the front page.. Some have the Favs set to just go directly to seniors or Jr.. The only reason I saw this was because of the closed thread.. I would never have looked here in (where am I Geez I have to look ) Customer service section which is in the DCP site disscusions which is in the DCP Forums. Yeah in other words Buried. Looks like it going to be a ENJOY IT WHILE IT'S HERE type of thing. Edited November 25, 2005 by Bond624
George
Any money donated to the site while I've been owner has been immediately applied to help offset the next month's hosting fees... All donors need to feel secure in the knowledge that their donation has helped offset the costs incurred in bringing this site to users over the past years. I have closed off the donation page during this sale... the new owner(s) can decide whether or not to accept member donations / but I would recommend against it. ScribeToo
DCP is for sale... on ebay... Reading the article and and ebay description... is this for real? I mean, we could literally lose this place to a group a porn fanatics or something. I can't even explain the emotion. Is this something everyone on DCP's BOD actually agreed to? Well.. I don't know about the BOD but I know this is the first I've heard about it. Comes as a bit of a surprise but I notice George has responded here and I haven't read his comments yet. We'll see what happens. Stef
