Only got to be part of the 9-11 legacy..

1977 - 12th

1978 - 12th

1979 - 11th (should've been 10th)

1985 - 14th

1986 - 9th

1987 - 11th

1989 - 9th

1990 - 11th

1992 - 10th

I missed all the fun of those 'movin on up' years, but have been around to see most of the big times..the 7th place finish in 96, the 4th place finishes, and the 2 (should be 4 or 5) Drum Line titles.

I'm proudest of last year when both of the 'other' senior corps from Minnesota got to shine at the big show. It's been a long time coming, and John and Mike Mayer can look up to their parents and be both proud and thankful..

While I had my moments in DCA - notably '68 (3rd) with Brigs and '72 (4th) with Cru - (certainly two of the best corps not to win) I never won a championship... However, I think one of the neatest championship moments came the year that Empire and Brigadiers tied - 1997 in Allentown...

My daughter Sara was marching Brigadiers color guard and her fiancé Ted was second DM for Empire. During retreat they appropriately broke ranks after the announcement of the scores and reaffirmed the tie with a kiss on the 50 yard line.

We now have twins Mason and Christian to show for it.

This gives new meaning to ties.

2003,2004, 2005 Renegades....nuf said :-) I just want to say that the fun of being in Renegades surpasses the ranking but I can hardly wait for the corps to have the title of champion. It was an amazing experience for me that is different from my time with BD. We won the title at DCI and it was awesome - different kind of fun. I wouldn't change either experience.

It is weird to be a DCA and be stared at because I am a 46 year old guard member surrounded by such young guard members. My first year it was a shock because I thought I would see more corps having older guard members. It was a blast to have people asking how we did it "at our age" LOL I am doing things at my age that my Mom would have just laid down and died trying to accomplish....age...who cares.
