Straemer
o on our second show this year, i think it was rome, ny, i remember the announcer said "drum major adam billings, are your corps (also plural) ready!"
notelvis
Many years ago a brass instructor I know once commented about one of his soprano soloists (name changed because both of these guys are still out there teaching hornlines) who was noted for his ego as well as his playing ------ "Tommy's really improved this summer. He's as good now as he thought he was last year."
GGarrett
"You're there and you're dressing!" Ughhhhh...man I hated that. Usually cuz I was the one that was generally not there and dressing...and had many steps to go to be there and dressing. See... as Bill Murray suggested in "Stripes," I was all about pacing myself... "good morning, santa clara." OK... that would have been cool to wake up to that. As it was, we had Scott Stewart walking through the gym gently whistling the light opening passages of "The William Tell Overture" to wake us up. That was pretty cool the first month or two... then it was kinda like a bad alarm clock Edited September 2, 2006 by GGarrett
skajerk
Quoting Gary Meegan <Valley Fever> from miscellaneous hornline rehearsals:"CUT THE BULLSH%$!!!" "You look like you're trying to take a dump!" "OH GEEZ!...That sounded like cra9!" "You think you're the best player....WELL YOU'RE NOT!!!" and some of the more complimentary comments: "Ahhh...that just gave me goosebumps!" :P Man, did those bring back some memories!Okay, here's an oldie with a twist said at many Renagade rehearsals... "Don't suck. Blow!" On a more personal note, one from our fearless visual guru, Dave Waltrous... "Randy, quit swingin'!" And a couple from from Jim McFarland (or as we call them... "Jimisms") "We loud you long time" "Relax the throat" Edited September 2, 2006 by skajerk

As it was, we had Scott Stewart walking through the gym gently whistling the light opening passages of "The William Tell Overture" to wake us up. That was pretty cool the first month or two... then it was kinda like a bad alarm clock Paul Cain, our tour manager in 92, used to whistle the "ding-dong" interval (descending minor third). Although since I was on the field lining crew, I sometimes missed that gentle nudge.
