dbc03
Keep your mouth shut in rehearsals unless you are asked a question. If you ARE asked a question answer it so that the instructors know you are awake. Also don't be afraid to ask questions. If you have a question about the exercise you are about to do ask it because someone else probably has the same question. Don't screw around and not give 100%. Generally the people in a corps that aren't liked are the people who can't pay attention and don't do their job. Don't say "mojo" Oh ####... nero14
-Whatever corps you join, you play and move the most. All other corps, especially nearby competitors, have easy drill and play whole notes for most of the show (standing still for about half of them). ITS SO TRUE! thats really funny! let me add a few along that same line of thought... also- if you're doing retreat and you thought you heard someone in another corps thats in tight competition with you say something- it was probably "you're gay/stupid/ugly" and he/she probably meant it for every member of your corps- you should probably all get pretty ticked about it... (oh wait- no retreat... hmmm) and dont forget that all the judges are all in conspiracy against your corps while they prefer the style of the other corps in your pack- probably because their directors are handing over cash before shows... MOST IMPORTANTLY- if there is ever a show rained out- its because all the other members and directors of other corps at the show were all sitting around on their busses crying because they were too afraid to go out on a wet field- YOUR corps director on the other hand- was trying to urge the show coordinators to let your corps go on and do the show in full uniform anyways- despite the 5 inches of water on the field... Sucker
Bring lots of turf spray with you on tour. It's hard to find in stores, but it's absolutely a necessity!
Morgoth Bauglir
don't go from corps to corps and say stuff like: "Well, in (insert corps or band name here) we used to do it like this" Totally agreed. No matter how awesome you think your previous high school/college/winter drumline/winter guard/marching band/div II corps/senior corps was..NO ONE CARES. Don't talk about it, don't brag about it, and don't tell people why the way you used to do it was better.
