mrshowfan
So I was watching some late 80's early 90's shows today. In particular, I watched 89 Devils, then later watched 90 VK. Has anyone noticed that the soloist from VK at the end of his "Singing in the Rain" solo, quotes the end of the 89 Devils "If we were in Love". I had to rewind it a couple of times to recognize the quote, but it was there. I can say with confidence that there is a "Mars" drum lick in a few of the mid 90's Madison shows. Also, (and I think this eventually got changed, and I'm not sure as to the truth of this, I had just heard about it second hand, and I havent checked out the show in a while). In 99 during the company front push near the end of Trial and Crucifixion, the drum line used to play a lick that spelled out "JCSS" in Morse code. J= Dot Dash Dash Dash C= Dash Dot Dash Dot S= Dot Dot Dot S= Dot Dot Dot Any other subtle moments you can come up with? madalumni
There's a moment during the end of Peterloo Overature in the Cavaliers' 92 show where the drums play a quote from Mars as well.

madalumni
In 1990, Phantom quoted different corps, including Madison (Slaughter) SCV (Phantom of the Opera) Sky Ryders (Oz I think), during Carnival of the Animals.

liebot
One of my favorites: Magic drum solo in 95, at the end you can hear the corps as a whole yell three quarter notes (what. the. f***?). The "f***" comes on a fall from the brassline, but FMMs of Magic have said on here that most of them yelled the "f***" instead of playing the note. Supposedly it was because they were ###### at the drum judges.
