Historic Possibilities

Recommended Posts

As the 2016 season comes to a close there are multiple battles going on for top 12 placements. Depending on the outcome, there are several which may be historic in nature. These include:

- If Bluecoats win, it will be their 1st DCI championship. They will become DCI's 10th champion. They will join Madison as the only organizations to have placed in each slot of the top 12.

- If Devils win, they will break their threepeat curse (76/77, 79/80, 96/97, & 09/10,)

- If Academy gets 12th or better, it will be their 1st appearance in finals. It will be the 1st time a corps from Arizona has made finals. It will be the 1st time since 2002 (Cascades) that there has been a brand new finalist.

- If the current standings hold, it will be the 1st time this century that SCV beats both Cadets and Cavaliers at finals.

-If Boston does not make finals, they will lose their 6th place standings in consecutive top-twelve placements (behind, SCV, BD, Phantom, Cavaliers, Cadets).

- If Blue Knights make finals, they will break their high-placement curse (1994- 7th place/1995 13th & 2000- 6th place/ 2001 13th place).

- If Crossmen hold on to 10th, it will be their best placement in over a decade (2003- 9th place).

Any other historic possibilities?

If Boston does not make Finals, it will be the first time since 1933 that no corps from New England, New York, or New Jersey has not made a recognized National Drum Corps Championships Top 12 ( DCI, American Legion, VFW )

Has anyone ever won all the regionals and not took first at finals?

I believe BD won every show all year in 2008, only to lose at finals to PR by .025
