Have the Blue Stars ever beaten Phantom Regiment? If they have, it probably hasn't been since the '70s. It could very well happen this weekend.

Yes they have

This show is not that sloppy especially in re/ to PR

PR isn't sloppy, it's just uninspired from a conceptual standpoint. (Except guard, which is pretty darned good. Weird but good!)

You're wrong they are sloppy

besides not being used to doing that kind of show the talent isn't there

Exactly what corps is this statement referring to?

So far the first 4 corps in this segment haven't marched as clean as those in last segment. Each group has had several prop drops and/or members running into each other (or in case of Academy, falling). All great performances but not unblemished. Nerves?

Madison has to figure out how to do hard driving, emotional shows with discipline. Their show last year was one of the three favorites in Nashville, and that was a show with eight finalists. But they are just sloppy as hell in everything they do. Big crowd reaction but hammered by the judges.

I have the complete opposite feeling. Madison's MMs are performing at a relatively high level this year. If you've seen recaps, you'll know they've been beating the Mandarins on the basis of performance captions, but not GE. But the Mandarins are far enough behind in the performance captions that Madison has had the upper hand.

Whereas the Mandarins just need better performers to execute the amazing design, Madison just needs better design. I especially feel that way in their visual design - too much actual marching and not enough of other visual techniques. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate seeing corps actually march instead of the modern-day "run to your dot" style, but Madison's show this year doesn't demand that.

Very few world class corps have the mm talent and educational depth to survive a show concept that doesn't really hit the mark. Last year was the perfect example of what I am talking about with Academy, a great concept, with great music, and both matched the corps' talent and experience.

In fact, I think there are maybe two corps that can make lemonade out of lemons, and that's Blue Devils and Carolina Crown.
