ajlemm Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Hey everyone. I was wondering what each of you thought was the best Championship show ever. I don't mean date and location but the corps and the year they performed. It doesn't matter if they finished in the top 12 or went out after quarters. What I am looking for is your favorite show ever and reasons why. Mine is: 2003 Phantom Regiment - Harmonic Journeys Reason: This show has it all...drill, crowd pleasing drama and crescendo, and intensity. There is not a time that I watch this show that my eyes don't fill up with tears at 1:10 and the push from 9 minutes until the end is all adrenaline. What a show. I know it didn't win, but my favorite show ever! I am requesting to have it played at my funeral (hopefully not for another 60 years!) Quote
Perry S Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) 1980 (or 1979) Spirit of Atlanta! Power, Beauty, Emotion, Technical (except drill) and did I mention Power! Chills and Tears and ADRENALINE! Edited May 15, 2008 by Perry S Quote
Lance Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 This is impossible to answer for me. I'm only posting because I sat here for a few minutes trying, and I couldn't pin down just one show. Sorry. Quote
mad_scotty Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 in the category of went out after quarters i'd have to say the 75 muchachos. best. hornline. ever. good thing you threw that didn't need to make finals caveat in there though, i'm not sure how i'd sort out the 80 devs, 87 cadets, 88 madison and devs, 92 and 95 scouts, 93 star, and 96 and 03 phantom. tough decision there! oh, to the original poster, with the exception of the tubas, 03 phantoms hornline can't polish the 96 hornlines shoes, but i still like that show better, too. just a bit! Sorry. do like i do. cheat. put one improbably great show on top, then add your whole short list! that way you can still have fun and play, while totally disregarding the rules a-la the muchachos and bridgemen!! raphael18 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 After sitting here for a few minutes...this is a ridiculous thing to try and do. If I had to pick one, it would be: Cadets- 1995 - An American Quintet I'm a sucker for hornlines playing great licks while doing high velocity drill. This hornline is most definitely part of a series of amazing Cadets hornlines. Pretty good for those 'inferior' G horns. Although I am normally not a fan of heavily themed shows, this is a great example of one where it really adds to the show. I know it's not exactly a revolutionary show (unless you count all the drum sets on the field), and t's not really an instant classic, but I can't help but smile whenever I hear/see it. I'm going to resist the urge to add an honorable mentions section. Quote
notelvis Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 OK....... the very first thing that came to mind is what I'm going with - 1995 Madison Scouts I think that's because the show was exciting, intense, marvelously played and marched........and it reminded me of the kind of show lot's of corps did when I fell in love with drum corps in the late 70's, early 80's. As I thought about it, I came up with about half a dozen other shows that I could have listed......but I'll stick with my first instinct. Quote
