Since there isn't a page for WGI winds groups I will post this here. It looks like Blue Knights and Music City are sponsoring a WGI Winds group this year. According to the WGI website, it look like 4 corps sponsored groups: Crossmen - World Class Chromium (Cavaliers) - Open Class Blue Knights - Open Class Music City Winds - World Class It looks like both Fleurish Winds (Madison) and Battalion will be at a regional, but not attending championships. Also, I read a while back Blue Stars were starting an all female wind group, but they are not on the WGI schedule yet. Anyone heard anything? Any other corps connections with WGI Winds?

They're trashing our trophies
DAvery replied to Pete Leland's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
When I was a director I used to remove the engraved plates off the trophies for that season and mount them on a plaque with a picture of the band and year. This would be mounted on the band room wall. I would then give the trophies to the senoir band members. -
And they used to have billboards all over the globe.

Tarpon Springs - Digital Screens
DAvery replied to Highwaydude's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I have these same ideas for years. I swore one day I would do a show like this. Have a big white prop at the back of the field labeled "prop", white flags with "flag" on them, etc. -

We keep evaluating marching band and drum corps in terms of "music education". Technically speaking, the first time we took a step outside the "music education" was compromised. I choose to think in much broader terms, such "artistic education". So much of the arts are in hybrid forms, such as ballet, opera, etc., why should the marching arts be any different? Just as ballet is a hybrid of music and dance, why can't the marching arts be viewed the same? -
Well they do have the Corn Palace and Wall Drugs.

George Hopkins removed from DCI Hall of Fame

This is true. Remember the movie Pretty in Pink from the early eighties? Jake's girlfriend gets drunk and Jake gives her to the geek to have his way with her. What was acceptable then, is not acceptable now. -
Hopefully, but hasn't that been the goal for the past few years? I'm hopeful, but a bit skeptical.

Exactly which relationships are they building? Alums to members? Staff to members? Corps to audience? I'm just saying this seems to be a look backward, but if that is what they feel is right I'm OK with that. When Mason took over there was a definite nod to past Madison glories and going to the "glory days" well worked for them at the time. This seems to be a repeat. And maybe this is what they feel they need to do to mend fences. I'm OK with whatever keeps them on the field.
-
So you are saying the reason why Madison didn't win this past season was because they weren't dedicated enough? Or are you saying their recent staff additions are going to increase their dedication?
-
In looking at the recent Scout staff additions, I get the feeling alums from 75 and 88 have taken over the corps. Waiting for the announcement on Malagueña. Looking backwards.......moving forward......?

Just like when your boss suggests not to wear jeans in the office even though there is no formal dress code.

World Class Corps can breathe again! (14-20)

I'm surprised no one has brought how this could potentially benefit the Mandarins. -
It was my understanding at the time he was specifically recommended to the Troopers by DCI as part of thier re-admission. Perhaps I am remembering this incorrectly.

3? Maybe 4?

I know when it starts and where, I just want to know who is on when.

So I was thinking of going to the Soundsport performances on Saturday, but I am unable to find a schedule posted anywhere. Does anyone know the schedule?

SCV 80-81 7th to 1st i always though 27th from 73-75 was interesting. 8th to 20th to 4th. Or Kilties 75-77. 7th to 28th to 12th.

It has been this way every since I can remember. I talked with several knowledgeable drum people in the 70's and one of things they were always talking about was the amount of time the drumline played. The unwritten rule was if drumline went more than 60 seconds during the show without playing, their score would decrease.

If the accusations are true, at what point does DCI step in and notify Pioneer they can no longer participate in DCI until the director is replaced? Didn't something similar happen to Capital Regiment during the summer?

Who was the last to use Slingerland? Ludwig? Ludwig I would guess would be Spirit. As far as Slingerland, maybe SCV?
