  1. Maybe the guy who started this thread will post up on here. :) http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=101058
  2. Does anybody else really find that adding cheesy narration is "innovative"? To me, this is more of a classic drum corps show that they added cheesy narration to. I was able to somewhat ignore the narration when I saw this show last week and I enjoyed the rest of it. I can't imagine other corps thinking that the narration is what was great about this show and not the phenomenal hornline playing some great music along with some crazy drill. I just don't see this show causing some huge narration push if it wins because I don't see anything innovative with having people talk during your show when high school bands have been doing this for years.
  3. Crown - I just don't really enjoy the bluecoats much this year. Cheesy narration and a show that seems kind of blah to me. Phantom - I'm a homer, but these are my two favorite corps. Cadets - I absolutely hate the narration, but I can see past that and enjoy the rest of the show. Too bad that the narration is there and will drive me nuts if I try to listen to this show much on my ipod.
  4. I just realized that I shouldn't say that regiment probably won't win it after the year I marched. I should definitely know that anything can happen finals week. I'm just ready for Regiment to have a show again with one of their competitive peers so we have some idea how they match up.
  5. Probably won't win, but I still absolutely love this show. I just have determined that I don't understand GE at all any more. Between Cavaliers winning Music GE last year and Regiment beating Cavaliers for Visual GE at a show last year, it just doesn't make any sense. This show is extremely entertaining and evokes their theme quite a bit yet they don't get much credit in GE for it while other shows that I don't find as stimulating and entertaining get higher scores in GE. I know I'm partially biased because I marched at Regiment and I prefer their style of drum corps, but GE the past few years has left me totally confused. Scores don't mean that much to me as long as they get in the top 6 and we get all the special features on the DVD. If that doesn't happen, my wife will be in a really bad mood next Saturday. :) I love this show and there's nothing I can do to make them score higher so I'm not going to worry too much about it. Maybe someday I'll finally understand GE.
  6. All of regiment's show, but mainly the flower duet. I'm sure the fact that my wife always has regiment's show playing when I get in her car has nothing to do with it. :)
  7. Regiment and Cadets are by far the two loudest I've heard this year. I saw spirit last night and didn't feel like they were in the same league. Maybe it was a bad night, but they weren't even close to Regiment or what I heard out of cadets last week.
  8. How funny. I bought a rubbermaid cooler yesterday to haul all of the popsicles my wife and I bought for Phantom Regiment over to their food truck. :)
  9. Uniform changes look much better in person than in pictures. I saw Regiment in person on Monday night and their uniforms looked great from my seats about five rows from the top on the 50.
  10. I will be taking the wife and one of my friends that I marched with to the Cinemark in Tulsa, OK.
  11. Regiment earned the 2 point jump in Enid last night. Were you at the show to see how they improved? I was, and they earned it, just like Cadets earned their jump. I could tell from the webcast that Regiment had an off night on Saturday, but Monday night they were on fire.
  12. Broken Arrow is now the host for the Tulsa area, it is on the 30th. We are going to that show too, but Boston is doing the encore and she really wants to see Phantom's encore.
  13. My wife called me the other today to tell me that she bought tickets to the show in Enid, OK because she found out that Phantom Regiment was playing Encore that night. It is a 2 hour drive for us, so it is going to be a long night for the 2 of us. I love the fact that she gets so excited about drum corps, she has been walking around the house telling me how pumped she is and how many days away it is until she gets to see "Her Phantom Regiment". She even has a homemade shirt that she wears to all of the shows.
  14. Based on attendance, Orlando was an even bigger disappointment than I thought it was.
  15. When I went to the page to sign up, it said the subscription would be through 4/30/2008. I haven't signed up yet, but that's what it says when you go to sign up.
  16. I'm still debating on whether I want to subscribe or not. If it's going to be like last year and we're going to have to deal with random outages, technical problems, and other items "beyond DCI's control" then I'll keep my $90. I would be better off doing PPV so I can get my money back if there are problems. It seems like once they get your $90 then you're stuck. It's also crap that my $90 is only good for about a 10 month subscription now.
  17. Not a single theater in the whole state of Oklahoma. They had it quarterfinals here last year. I can't imagine that whatever crappy movie they'll be showing that night will bring in more money than this would have.
  18. I have to question why DCI would not release the votes. It's extremely hypocritical that the directors would vote for something that they KNOW is extremely unpopular with a large group of fans and then want to hide their vote from those fans because they're worried those fans will vote with their wallet. If they're that worried about a negative reaction then why in the hell are they voting for it? This a non-profit activity that seems to scrape by financially every year and relies on the generosity of its fan base for support. Alienating a large portion of those fans because you want a new toy to play with when designing your show is ridiculous. They must think it's a large number of fans that are mad or they wouldn't be this concerned about it. Be a man and admit who voted for what. The fact that they voted for it with such a large number against it means our opinion really doesn't mean anything to them so what are they worried about?
  19. Mine's the exact same way. It does look like crap, but at least the DVD's that I have watched so far seem fine and that's what I really care about.
  20. And they were able to do it without having to resort to an amplified narrator to guide you through their show!!!
  21. We had a guy from Japan back when I marched ten years ago. I don't think they have corps in Japan like top corps in the US. I think it's cool that people are willing to travel from other countries to take part in our great activity.
  22. If it makes you feel better, even the top 12 didn't get this. It is a CD, but it is not well produced.
  23. I would prefer to see them stick with an all female guard, but it looks to me like the painting is on the wall and Phantom will abandon this tradition and go with what everybody else is going. I can live with this, but the day they start singing and amplifying voices then I'll be really ######.
  24. I'd go but it's a bit of a haul for me to make it up there on a weeknight. :)
