  1. You have that live TV aspect for one. The quality difference between a streaming video broadcast and a live TV broadcast. Mind you it is just an unqualified opinion and obviously changes will need to be made. I would pay for a higher bandwidth tv stream rather than an internet stream. I also would like to see finals live with commentary.
  2. I mentioned my plan for PPV. As I am not well versed in PPV broadcast logistics, these are my own opinions on the subject and are very unqualified. What I would do is do a day by day PPV (i.e. Qtrs, Semis, Finals) as well as a whole package PPV. I would have users pay the "Super-Premium" Price for each days show or they can have the package at the Super 3 price. So it would be like $55 for Qtrs, $75 Semi, $150 Finals or a package deal for $250. In addition the could offer a PPV of Open Class as well as World Class, but that could be a future offering. Why the "Super Premium" Price? As a purchaser of the "Super Premium" tickets over the last 8 years I have had amazing seats (even the club seats at Foxboro and luxury box seats last year[best ever!!!]) but you cant get the backstage, muti-camera experience as you could with a TV broadcast. You actually get a better deal by getting some buddies at your home having a watch party and enjoying the broadcast without paying for flight/car/hotel/food/gas among other charges. With charging that amount may enable DCI to think about an HD finals broadcast in 5.1 DD and 1080i resolution package as well...add an extra premium cost to that like WWE, UFC, and Boxnig do. I am sure that there will be a few thousand that will buy the PPV and it will re-coup the cost of the broadcast and may turn a profit. I am almost certain that DCI will have as many, if not more, subscribers as fans in the seats. This is my very, very unqualified opinion and obviously some tweaks would be made, but it would mean more revenue for DCI and a larger outreach. Heck they could team-up with ESPN once again and use the ESPN equipment and know-how to do a great PPV broadcast.
  3. PPV can work...I almost guarantee it. A Live PPV broadcast would be perfect and the price can be very manageable. I have detailed my plan in the past. I wonder if the power-that-be have contemplated that idea.
  4. I say Roman Legion headgear and Tans /sarcasm off In Reality Though...something to do with the Roman Legions would be awesome
  5. Did they borrow that from Volusia County Florida c. 2000
  6. Three words.... COMMAND AND CONQUER That is all
  7. That was totally un called for...but al ot of fun to read!!!!! Anywhoo...sweetballs this is a funny situation. I'd love to see the memo on Dan's desk to see where the other plans are if it ain't done in time. I say Carbondale, IL (j/k) I would also would have liked to been a phone bug whaen he got the call the the field was blowed-up. This will be an interesting few weeks.
  8. I decided to rip the audio to mp3 on my entire legacy dvd collection, I know that is not exactly "legal", but heck...I own them. It was the only way to get what I wanted.
  9. As someone who has worked in the Casino Gaming Industry fro the last 3 years I can verify that the Indian Gaming casinos in CA are self sufficient and do not have to share profits with the state, although they pump some of those dollars into the local economy. A voter passed law in CA allowed for tribal self governance and they can keep their money...they also serve as their own "gaming commission" and have no government oversight of gaming laws. That is the only one in the country that allows this...Oregon, CO, WA, AZ, FL, etc. have a state run gaming commission that oversees the casino's. Those "VLT" machines are fine in Oregon and NY as they are run by the lottery. I cant understand why the CA gov't is disallowing those machines...I think that the NIGA lobby is very powerful in Sacramento.
  10. I wonder if any of the corps have attempted to try to hedge fuel prices...I just saw the Gas prices in Belleville, IL at $4.71/gallon at around 300 gallons per semi is about 1400 per fillup. This could be the end of corps as we know it and that is sad.
  11. I am willing to give it one year to see what it is all about...but if I dont like it...I may join the opposition party and leave the activity...
  12. Take a hike '07 and die slowly (It was a good and bad year...mostly bad) Hello '08...wanna beer?
  13. Broken Record time... If we as fans and former marchers and even current and future members should lobby for is fairness in judging. I have shout from a soapbox many time to enlist a 3rd party to judge the judges. How unfair to some coprps chances, especially during championships, when the deck is stack in one corps favor overanother just because a certain judge or 2 or 3 traditionally len to one corps over any others. You all know it happens because we talk about it at shows and in chats. If it menas 2 of each judge than so beit...if it menas releasing the judge sheet after each major show as well as giving the people a blank set of judging sheets to follow along with, I'd be for that as well.
  14. As much as I have come to enjoy listening to the pit sound not noticable before...the wording of this document really makes some points that cannot be ignored. Fiscal, logistical, and most of all safety...1 bad short and it could be very tragic
  15. How about a proposal to have an independent 3rd party to judge the judges. Isn't it wrong when we equate a judging panel that will be more symapathetic to a certain corps...i.e a Cadets, or cavies, or BD leaning judging panel? I just think that there should be some accountability as it pertains to the judges.
  16. NO ON #5...NO NOW, NO NEXT WEEK, NO NEXT MONTH, NO NEXT YEAR, NOT FREAKIN EVER...thats just L-A-M-E
  17. I have come to enjoy the amp'd pits over the past 4 years. Before the amp'd pit the sound from the pit didnot make it over the ensemble at times, with the amps I am able to hear many of the from ensemble percussion instruments not available in the past...i.e Udu, various toys, etc. But keep it at that dont amp voice, grunts, farts, burps, or any other noise from the body. So I say No on #10 and yes on #9 (souds like a California election commercial, eh!)
  18. I mentioned this in the past....release the blank sheets to the fans...let us that have not seen a sheet in some time judge for ourselves and try to get into the head of the judges...if that is at all possible
  19. Ok, Beef time. Mooo. I noticed as I was preserving the ISO of my DVD's, I have no DVD player any more, I rip the ISO of all my DVD's to my mega storage server and use DVD emulation to watch dvds now, I noticed that there is a ton of room on the dvd's to put other content...why not up the judges comments to a 3rd or 4th judge. The space used on the top 6 dvd's are as follows: Vol 1 D1: 4.36 GB Vol 1 D2: 4.77 GB Vol 1 D3: 5.21 GB There is room for other content...why not use it BY the way the egg is awesome.
  20. Dude that was awesome...one of my favs was the "get the *bleep* outta my shot of the opening quartet
  21. You know for the 1st time in a very, very long time...DCI will not be on National TV anywhere, unless DCI has something up their sleeve. Who here, who cannot make it to Indy in August of '08 would be willing to plop down the price of a "Super Premium" Ticket to watch finals live on PPV? Not to mention that you would have more of the awesom Tom Blair camera angles to see the action. You figure 125-150 per house hold time how many...minus broadcast fees etc and Ill bet that money can be made off of this.
  22. I have made posts on this option before. I would be more that welcome to the idea of paying the price of a "Super Premium" ticket to see DCI on HD PPV or regular PPV. DCI could show Quarters for for the Quarters SP Ticket Price ($55?), Semi's for the Semi's SP Ticket Price ($75?), and Finals for the Finals SP Ticket Price ($125-150?). Or Package them together for 1 big price or do the whole "Fantastic 5" type package(s) with Open/World Class broadcasts for the SP Price. Why the SP Price? you can't get any better camera angles than what Tom Blair can provide. That coupled with digital sound on a 50" Plasma TV...ohhhh baby! that is an option for those that cannot make it for what ever reason. It is a viable option...one that DCI ought to pursue.
  23. I have hinted at that same idea surrounding the revival of DCE, DCM, & DCW type organizations. This may let the corps not have to travel thousands of miles just to go to shows. There is no need for west coast corps to have to travel all the way out east in june. This will also allow Open Class corps (just getting used to that ) to get more exposure than having to wait until as late as mid-july to go to a show. The way it was done before, at least in the old DCM Days is that the shows were all in close proximity, for the most part.
