  2. You shouldn't have a problem finding a DCPer who'll buy you one, considering the yeoman's work you did tonight!
  3. Seems obvious to me, but: (A) If you are upset that you now know the scores early, perhaps you ought not have clicked on this thread? AND (B) Is it really that big of a big deal? YMMV, I guess.
  4. This year's member journal is online now. It's called "Juliet's Journal" this year. So yes, they were able to keep the alliteration going despite the journaling member's name being Stephanie. You can find it here.
  5. I'm sure I speak for lots of folks when I say that I'd definitely pay money for that app, Hrothgar. I never got the DCI app last year. I can't remember: was it free or paid?
  6. Local Des Moines chocolate shop owner and Scouts alumnus Ton Stam is opening another of his stores in Madison, Wisconsin, with the profits going to the Scouts. You can read the story here.
  7. Was anyone else annoyed by the constant hair-flipping? I know barrettes aren't sexy, but good lord, make a run to Walmart or something.
  8. Paul Weber is one heck of a teacher and all-around percussionist, and an absolutely great guy. The Blue Knights' percussion program is in extremely capable hands.
  9. I spoke to one vet directly who told me that he would probably follow Rennick. First, he said probably; second, he told me that before the Gwaltney hire was announced; and third, he's only one guy. To take it for what it's worth.
  10. Well, it's not corps per se, but I know him through Music City Mystique and Choctawhatchee HS (sp?).
  11. Is the drum major standing next to the person in the Lara Croft outfit?
  12. Go here. It's the Asphalt Cocktail page of John Mackey's website. His whole site is great, acutally.
  13. You must be new here. Yes, drumcat is who he says he is.
  14. OP, do you have any insight as to the technical underpinnings of the octave divider? That is, what software, equipment, effects did you use, etc.? I love this kind of stuff and would love learning more about it. P.S. Awesome job on the solo, btw.

  16. I was a BIG fan of BK this year. Probably my favorite show from them. Jim Prime horn arrangements FTW.
  17. You should never boo. Oh wait. Wrong topic.
  18. ...for not crashing tonight! I suppose things were greatly helped by all the folks traipsing over to dci.org to watch Finals retreat, but still. Nice not to have to wait out the customary server crash and reboot that we've dealt with in the past. And my blood pressure thanks you as well.
  19. I was right there with you 100%, until... ...the insinuation that somehow only those of us from the midwest can be classless. I've seen tremendous displays of disrespect in every region, and somehow I doubt that the folks in Indy are all "midwest fans." However, I won't boo you for it.
  20. Haven't seen the show live (thanks, Minneapolis tornadoes!), but wouldn't it be easier to get the effect of the mirrors from a lower vantage point?
