  1. I like the show a lot this year. All the corps are good these days. 13th, 16th, 19th, whatever, nothing to hang one's head over. Everyone can't win. They are doing a great job with what they have. I am sad they are going coed, I don't think 2 all-male corps is too many. Just like there is room for lots of styles of music, movement, costumes, etc, there should be room for all-male, all-female, coed. It isn't the end of my world, doesn't diminish what I/we had back in the day, times change that is cool. But still a bit sad and I don't see that it was necessary. But I will still support and have a fond place for the corps going forward.
  2. I've been to Indy 4-5 times now and never tire of biking/walking around the city (several cool neighborhoods like Mass Ave and Fountain Square and more), the many fine dining options, the museums, Capital/historic monuments. I find plenty to do every time I come. But how much time do you really have anyway? There are always several music/arts events every night that I wish I COULD attend, but there is drum corps to watch. My mindset is I'm there to see drum corps. It isn't my only vacation (guess I'm lucky). When I go somewhere interesting then I want to have time to actually do what's interesting!
  3. I know many alums who don't post here that support the corps regardless of placement. I truly think it's the majority. DCP is a pretty small view of the real world out there. My experience at alumni events is very different than the tone of this thread. In the big picture the organization is as strong as ever (my opinion), and continuing to teach life lessons. Go Scouts!
  4. Mellos could stagger that breath better. Can hear too many drop out each time the corps chords come in.
  5. I'm only attending Thursday and Saturday in Indy. Adding Friday would push me over my notes limit for the week.
  6. I came up from the theater room and my wife had grilled me a steak for the break! https://www.dropbox.com/s/5wsio6eckhdg6dt/2018-07-21 19.06.06.jpg?dl=0
  7. But to a Blue Star alum who marched in the 60s or 70s and was used to being a contender it must have felt a lot like Madison alumni have been feeling now for years. Remember Blue Stars from 72-79 were the only corps to have made top 12 every year of DCI. Don't see how leaving the upper echelon for two decades wasn't a drop.
  8. Not many corps have been as high for so long as Madison and then fallen as low as they have in the internet age. Wonder what the Blue Stars alumni thread would have looked like in the 80s and 90s. Is that the most comparable drop? Spirit maybe? Although Spirit wasn't as high for as long in late 70s early 80s. Cadets in 70s? I was thinking Cavaliers in 70s, but their down years were relatively short lived in hindsight.
  9. Yesterday there were four on StubHub in Section 240 for $200 apiece. They didn't last long!
  10. The vocal alumni are the vast minority if you consider the total alumni pool. I think most alumni are way more tolerant of down years, down decades even. I think most alumni see the artistic experience and life lessons that the kids are getting is more similar than different to what its always been, and that is what matters. It's their turn now, we had our day. All these corps beating us for the first time deserve it, and my hats off to them.
  11. Check out the Fountain Square neighborhood. Brewpubs, coffee shops, antiques, record stores line Virginia Ave between Fountain Square and downtown. Live music in the bars. Little known gem of the city I discovered last year. And a fine (haute cuisine) restaurant is Milktooth, especially for brunch. There are several fine restaurants on Virginia come to think of it. Much better than downtown or gentrified Mass Ave imho.
  12. When I heard Carpenter's I loved them! But that was really only 2 times. What was the rest of the music?
  13. Moscow Mule from Holiday Inn streaming hotel WiFi. Perfect stream so far.
  14. Is seat 1 in section 141 next to section 140 or section 142? How about seat 1 in 139 vs 140/138? How many seats in a row?
  15. After I cancelled I began to recieve emails... "Your FloPRO subscription on FloMarching expires tomorrow — this is your last chance to take advantage of our one-time 20% discount upon renewal. If you upgrade to an annual subscription, you’ll get to enjoy premium content to ALL FloSports Websites AND save 37%."

  17. I just cancelled. Seemed pretty easy to me. The recurring bill was made quite clear upon signup. But for those that are staying on (for DCA maybe?) - you should cancel - and then resubscribe because if you cancel they offer 20% off the next month to change your mind!
