tl;dr - I clicked the link and instantly decided I'd rather just watch the show and draw my own conclusions lol. Although, I'm sure it was very well written.

This. On an unrelated note, I realize there is a lot of controversy over slotting and some fans downright refusal to acknowledge its existence, but it definitely happens. I have personally seen corps redo portions of a movement or an entire movement in a rehearsal day and put it on the field their very next adjudicated performance, yet never drop in rating or only drop very slightly. A lot of times a corps will realize mid-season that what the design team thought would be a good idea in pre-season isn't really sitting too well with the judges night after night and the only way to move up in the ladder is to completely rework the piece in question. There are very few corps that can learn ~40 pages of drill and have it "end of July" clean in one day. /rant flame me. -

How do we save Drum Corps

DCI died in the early '70s - why are we still beating this dead horse? -
I think everyone is missing the real question - Who did the Cadets steal it from? What poor high school was watching the 2005 dvds, awestruck that the Cadets were using their move that they stole from a DCA corps who probably stole it from someone else. DCP WILL get to the bottom of this, rest assured - heads will roll!

Total cost of ownership...
Vanguard07 replied to Tom Brace's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I've heard of a lot of corps adopting a policy that discounts your total dues for returning members. I think that's a great idea, it make marching a lot easier on your wallet and it keeps vets coming back year after year. When I marched in 2004&5, I spent about $2500 for each summer (that figure includes spending money and extra incidentals). However, when I auditioned for SCV in 2007 and got the contracts showing what the summer was going to cost, I quickly realized marching a west coast corps as an east coaster - you better be rich! With the cheapest 4-layover flights riding in the luggage compartments I was still looking at almost $400 round trip every month. Coupled with corps fees and incidentals/spending money - it would have been a $6,000 summer. :/ -
Depends, are their explosives in this backpack?

This thread is still alive?!?! Reminds me of Kenny, from South Park! Just when you think it's dead, it somehow comes back and is still as funny as ever!

My thoughts on the show tonight... Got to Orlando from Tampa at about 2pm to check out some favorite sites in the area before the festivities, but by 5pm the sky was turning an ugly dark and I began to fear the worst. Around 6pm the rain came down and it only got worse over the next 15-20 minutes. It finally let up around 6:45 and my friends and I began making our way to ours seats. I bought our seats ridiculously early so we would have the choice pick seats, the 5 of us split the 50 yard line in the lowest tier, about half way up. We got BLASTED by these corps, it was AMAZING! Teal sound had an amazing performance and I really like some of the things they're doing in the pit, as much as I consider myself a traditionalist - a few years away from the activity has given me a change of heart when it comes to electronics and their place in DCI. I love the fact that a Florida corps is back and soon to be making history! Glassmen had a spectacular performance and I loved their new uniforms (new to me at least, I haven't seen a show in almost 3 years, only audio). I was hoarse by the end of their performance from screaming - their show had those "ZOMG YES!!" moments around every corner and definitely kept me interested. ALso, I would say they were neck and neck with Boston for best encore of the night. BK brought down the house with their beautiful hornline, I never really thought of BK as a 'hornline' corps. When I think of BK, I think about the early 90s BK drumlines and that's just what I associate this corps with, but that changed tonight when I heard their 16 piece contra line laying a beautiful foundation for their brassline to just do incredible things. Also, LOVED the encore - I nearly died laughing!!! Last but not least, BAC took the field around 9:15 and they left nothing to be desired when they marched off the field. Their show, start to finish, was one of the best shows I think I've seen in quite some time. They were easily one of the most powerful hornlines I've heard in years and I really hope they take a high rating in brass this season. By the first hit of their big opener, my ears were in euphoria, I was absolutely mesmerized by this hornline and what they were putting out. When the first movement ended, I looked over at my friend and he was just sitting their, awestruck by the powerhouse that was BAC. I think next time someone asks me "What is drum corps?" this will be one of the first shows I recommend for listening.
