fun question for all the over-22s out there
nummy1 replied to Orpheus's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
BD all the way... just love their style and work ethic... -
Where have all the Flugels gone?
nummy1 replied to no_itsnotadash's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It seems like it is just a sound that corps don't want anymore... What about Euphoniums, there are some corps that are dropping them completely.. -
I understood that placing higher at shows, you get a bigger cut of the money made at the current show...

How much does it really cost to start a drunm corps
nummy1 replied to Blackstar's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
better to Rent busses rather then Buying... -
Maybe they should have competed with Div II... they would have gotten in the top 3... i really enjoyed the show, and i thought they should have placed higher than they did..
-
I agree... as long as BOA and DCI stay completely separate, i think it is very smart (buisinessly) to merge them... it probably is one of the reasons they are moving to Indy anyways... i say, within 2 years it will happen
-
PS. if you don't go to the ageout cerimony you don't ageout... (obviously there are good reasons... sometimes)

if you are not with the corps during finals week you did NOT march... i don't care if you were there the whole season... even if someone STARTS marching during finals week, it counts that he marched the entire season... i think anyone who leaves the corps in ANY reason other than an injury is very selfish... leaving your former friends is a horrible thing to do...

Ultimate Video Approach

I care for it... especially since the recording of non top twelve corps... you don't have the option of high angle... i want my high angle!!! :) -
How to march finals night.
nummy1 replied to jetman1287's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
as with any other sport, you don't do it any differently on the big stage... you just play your heart out... it feels different just because it is the last time you will be on the field with all those people... -
i really liked their show as well....saw them twice, and really liked them both times... Reminds me of another california corps ^_^ rooting for them to do well in upcoming seasons..
-
The thing is, when you are touring, it is exciting to go to all sorts of new and different places in the country... Going to Madision, Foxboro, Pasadena, Denver for finals... i think it is fine for the fans, i could care less... but i like the kids performing to be able to have different experience in more stadiums for finals than 1..

Which show was cleaner... BD or Cavies?
nummy1 replied to Tez's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Cavies was cleaner... but i enjoyed BDs performance much better... Don't get me wrong, the Cavies have an amazing show and i love it... But BD is BD... can't get any cooler than them... -
The show was based on constant motion throughout the show... he did not play at all, just because that would create an obvious imbalance within the ensemble... I thought that was a really clever thing to do... yeah, it made me look at it... but i thought it was great... good overall show..

prob not... -
BOOOOOOOOOO :-p

I saw them last night, and i thought they were outstanding... my first time seeing the show, so i don't know if they had plateaued yet... but they still have plenty of cleaning they can do..
-
I was at the show and I was very impressed from top to bottom... Blue Stars had a very entertaining show AND it was good.. clean, for the most part.. the next 3 were so so... my first time seeing Glassmen's show.. and i really enjoyed it... was NOT boring at all... done really well... not as clean as they usually are, but I will take entertainment over cleanliness any day.. my Kudos to the Glassmen design team.... as usual, the cavies have an amazing show... they pull it off really well... every aspect of that show fits their style.. only thing i didn't like was they had TOO much going on at once... i didn't know where to focus my attention... I guess there could be worse things :). Boston is Boston, what can I say... i think one needs to see this show a couple times to really understand it... Very enjoyable show.. can't wait till Allentown saturday night though... woo hoo...

Probably the same corps that would use Bundy instruments :)

When did drum corps make you cry
nummy1 replied to tenorfan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
'02 Boston all the way... when the show ended nice and soft... :) -
do you feel that being in the top 12 today...
nummy1 replied to cire's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think the past couple of years, being in the top twelve really means something... DCI is getting much more competitive... the shows are getting much better... being in a corps that didn't make finals, it sucks... so top twelve is still what its cracked up to be... -
Using drum corps to find new music...

I had purchased the 1993 Star show from iTunes (orchestral).. funny to see how much star pulled from the original piece... -
what is (your favorite/the best) show in DCI that...

Could there be drum corps without bands
nummy1 replied to Blackstar's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I don't think there is anyone that hates bands... it was kindof amusing last year, with the Music is Cool clinics.. there were kids in the group making fun of the band kids... these were 16 yr old drum corps kids making fun of band kids...very funny since there are STILL in marching band... we need to have a little more respect for high school programs, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be were we are today...
