  1. Ha. People have been doing that for as long as there has been an encore, regardless of their placement. You can't just suddenly claim that it's because they got second. Even if the were, they were hardly the worst behaved at retreat last year. The corps I'm thinking of had drunk members, people playing the wrong chords, and had a baritone hang the release by about 15 seconds while lip trilling. They beat the corps they were rivaling. Any other theories, Mr. Frued?
  2. And Jesus was never a lion, but C.S.Lewis gets called out for ripping of the bible in his Narnia series all the time.
  3. You can jump all over if you want, I'm okay with that. I just find it pretty stange to have more than a few people saying that they predict (not that they hope for) Crown and BD to have a back and forth battle for 1st the next two nights, or even that Crown will pull an upset. There's no evidence to suggest that it will happen, and BD's margin of victory is increasing. The only real claims I've seen are "stranger things have happened" and the reference to Phantom 08, which had half the ground to make up. I'm all for hope, but considering this a good possibility of happening... not really backed up by the evidence. No, I'm not a BD fan.
  4. I don't know why Crown fans aren't letting this battle for first go. Isn't 2.2 enough to tell you it's a highly unlikely turn of events?
  5. They've been beaten by both Cadets and Cavies recently... It's their early scores that seeded them where they were.
  6. To the person who said on field warm ups don't work: I was in a less than stellar horn line once who kept cracking the unison first note of the show. So our brass staff did a chord progression that ended on that unison note. Didn't crack it very much when that was the last thing you played not a minute earlier.
  7. Most of the corps I've seen this year had some kind of moving warm-up. Cavies have the closest to an old school version of it, simply because they aren't moving during, but the music still relates to their show.
  8. Haha. If you feel that the job isn't being done up to your standards, go volunteer. Yeah, I didn't think you would. These kinds of things happens when you expect instant results. Lighten up, guys.
  9. Well, when thousands of people feel it's necessary to boo him (and the kids) when they dissaprove, then it's only right to give him some praise when he does something they like. It's only fair...
  10. If you're a Crown fan, then tonights are completely applicable and accurate! If you're a fan of Cavies, Cadets, or BD, then you can't compare different shows! ...That about right?
  11. I guess I've just grown tired and surly after reading topic after topic of "Do you like apples or oranges?" with responses like "I like bananas. Why wouldn't you think to include bananas? They are obviously superior to both apples and oranges. Really, I only came in this topic about apples and oranges to talk about bananas, because they are the only fruit that I enjoy, regardless of what this batch actually tastes like." And I suppose the next response to this would be something like "I'm allowed to have an opinion about bananas! And you're allowed not to read it!" Or maybe I'm just tired of the "honks"...
  12. Yes, the top 5 is useless without the 7th place corps. Just follow the directions dude.
  13. Lol. You sure are defensive about some things I didn't say. The only part I feel awesome about is riling you up, because the 14-year-olds don't read these boards. (I teach autistic kids for a living, if you want to pull the ######## kid card next.) I've taught, I've marched--Groups that won, groups that failed horribly, and groups that went undefeated for years. Bad straight leg back up looks like they're bicycling. Even large step good straight leg backup looks like bicycling. As long as they look like the kid next to them, it's all the same. Next time someone agrees with you, you might not want to crucify them.
  14. Supply and demand... as much as it sucks for us little people, you know SOMEONE will pay those prices. If and When they don't, the prices will get a bit more reasonable.
  15. Eh... bad straight leg back up looks like you're "bicylcing" anyway.
  16. We were seeded for Semis 2 points behind the corps in front of us and 2 points ahead of the corps behind us. It was over.
  17. If you only need it for one tempo and a drill team, you could honestly use a 5 dollar metronome, a patch cord, and a crappy stereo/boombox. Doctor Beats and Long Rangers can get expensive.
  18. It's not a ******* concert hall. Make some noise. I always appreciate the applause when I'm on the field, and I'm sure many others do.
  19. Turf is a lot easier on my prematurely old knees, too.
  20. I really want to hear from the Crossmen vets that are real bitter about this... I can't bring up the Cadets, Crossmen, or Hopkins without some of my friends talking my ear off about "You Eat After" (get it?) and Hopkins involvement. I don't agree with them in any way, but I think it's interesting that so few of them have reared their ugly head.
  21. @do.it.up. or anyone that listened to the broadcast with commentary- Can anyone help me understand the tribal section? (battery and hornline make a box against the pit, and there's a solo male dancer in the middle). The rest I'm starting to understand. This part... Drawing a blank.
  22. I can listen to my TV louder than the actors in the movie were talking live. ...Is this seriously your argument? The switch wasn't only for the acoustic differences in the horn. The same financial issues of stocking a hornline with all G bugles would apply to stocking a hornline with half G bugles.
