  1. I'm afraid I have to agree with you. It's just too dark. I'm not saying I don't like it but it will take time for my eyes to adjust from that white to all that dark. The guard certainly pops. Then again I watched on periscope and I'm sure my view live will be different. Oh well I'll see in Allentown. Irving Fan of the Arts
  2. ((grin)) Still look like Cadets to me Irving Fan of the Arts
  3. The 12th position is a dog fight. I've liked Troopers from the very start. Who's your pick: Boston, Troopers, Academy, or Colts? Irving Fan of the Arts
  4. ((Grin))....George now you're teasing us. See you Tuesday night. Irving Fan of the Arts
  5. All I can say is this group is far more civil than the old RAMD group where I was constantly flamed just for being a Cadet fan. I don't care why the Cadets left early from the show last night. They are here in my backyard now, that's right I'm another one that lives in DC. Cadets have to be feeling pretty good if last night's performance according to George was inconsistent. No secret now folks its all about performance and there were a couple of caption scores had they been "consistent" would have had the Cadets on top. This is what is probably driving George and staff crazy. This is far from over and I'm still betting on Cadets name being announced last in Indy. It won't be by much but I don't care. Oh, the Cadet guard is in fact much improved but I'm afraid 4th is as good it will get for them. Irving Fan of the Arts
  6. What I understand from Hop's disclosure of the progression of the show design is it has always been the plan from the beginning to transform the color palette of this show. That plan seems to be working and it looks like, for a change, the judging community understands it as well. I'm not freaking out about the possible uniform change or oppose it because I did not march Cadets. I certainly don't understand it as the maroon and gold going away forever. If we look at the uniform change as part of the design planning and it works then I say good for the vision of George and his design team. This show is already incredibly good and maybe their best in many years. There just isn't room to throw any cheese in it. Have you seen the latest changes? Wow!! The Z-pull is back for crying out loud! It's as simple as this; if the uniform change does come we are either going to like it or not. I can't see it bombing at this point. Full speed ahead Cadets, I'll be pulling for you as you make your way to Indy.Irving Fan of the Arts
  7. This is certainly a two part question. First question "do you NEED to have a uniform change to expand boundaries, seek to be innovative and always be at the forefront of change? Answer YES. Star of Indiana did it a great deal and yet I always knew it was Star on the field in or out of uniform. Second part of question; "Or, is a uniform change done just because everyone else is doing it?" NO, and certainly Cadets are not considering a rumor filled uniformed change because everyone else is doing it. They have never been known to be followers in this activity. I have been a part of this activity since 1968 and around the Cadets the last ten years. With each year there was a rumor about the Cadets (George) doing something about the corps proper I have never seen those kids approach to how they put on that uniform on any different than the Holy Name Cadets of 1934. Nothing but corps pride. It has been my priviledge to watch each year the alumn present the current Cadet members with hats that symbolizes the passing on of Cadet tradition and then to listen to them sing their corps song together. These kids today are the current holders of Cadet tradition that was passed onto them from former Cadets. Many of the kids have parents or a family member who have marched as Cadets. Many of the staff, including HOF Jeff Sacktig, are former Cadets. Has anyone asked these kids, current Cadets, if they have strayed away from Cadet tradition? Someone mentioned in an earlier post "does the uniform make the Cadet or the Cadet make the uniform?" If there is a uniform change coming there is no way in hell I won't know its the Cadets even though they are not in their proper maroon and gold. Let these kids have the opportunity to be the best Cadets they can be. After all that is all they want to do; make their fellow brother and sister Cadets proud of them. As a fan of the Cadets I couldn't be more proud of these kids for performing such a challenging and demanding show so effortlessly. I really didn't think they could pull it off from what I heard from the winter camps. So if a uniform change is coming I think its going to be nothing less than spectacular. All I know is I have watched these kids work their butts off and that work has put them in position to do what so many other corps want to do; win a DCI championship. Go Cadets!! 8. What is all this chatter about the corps proper? The title of the show is "The Power of Ten". If you ask me the drill design by Jeff Sacktig has been nothing less than his usual genius. The overall design of the show is clear and the Cadets are performing the heck out of it. George himself has been dropping hints/clues/insights all over the place about the design progression of the show with neon being the 10th element his last clue. Now I didn't major in math nor am I a part of the design team but clearly the Cadets have something more coming. Whatever that something is we are either going to like it or not like it. All I know is I'm as excited as I've ever been about the Cadets. This is one heck of a package they have presented this year and I couldn't be happier for those kids. Go Cadets!!! Irving Fan of the Arts
  9. George let's not forget we're talking about George here. Let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if we see more surprises. Irving Fan of the Arts
  10. Now that everyone has had a chance to swallow this news, perfectly placed by George, I feel the timing of the design team planning is just pure genius. Whatever we see coming out of Cadet-land the next week or so will be no accident but a process that began way back during the winter camps. BRAVO!! Cadets do what's ever necessary to get to the finish line ahead of everyone else. You certainly have the most demanding show this year and performing the heck out of it. Irving Fan of the Arts
  11. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Geesh, come on DCI correct the feed issue before this last block begins. Irving Fan of the Arts
  12. The Cadet guard will be just fine. Didn't you see the most recent recaps? No one is certainly harping on Crown's hornline not winning their caption. Irving Fan of the Arts
  13. George there are many non believers. Some are pinning hope on Bluecoats catching Cadets. Irving Fan of the Arts
  14. Ok Cadets have beaten BD more this year than BD has lost in the last three years. I've agreed on a couple of predictions I've seen on DCP, but the Cadets themselves are performing at a consistent level now. I'm already a believer the Cadets have the show to win it all in Indy; are you starting to believe?
  15. Hold your breath and watch it happen :) Irving Fan of the Arts
  16. To admit you skip this show every year and live as close as you do is called in-sane. Irving Fan of the Arts
  17. And believe me, Cadets are far from finished. It's just been an incredible year for all the drum corps. Look at the fight for the 12th position. Then we have our top five: Cadets, Bluecoats, Blue Devils SCV, Crown and possibly a new corps to the top six; Blue Knights. Look what Bluecoats did last night in Denton. I still believe in the end Indy favors Cadets for many reasons, mainly because they have the best vehicle to get them there and if I know George and his visual staff they have something left up their sleeves. Irving Fan of the Arts
  18. Just a great year for Drum Corps!

  19. @mjyaub: I agree with you completely on the Indy finish. Cadets Blue Devils Bluecoats Crown SCV Irving Fan of the Arts
  20. If you look at the recaps I have never seen so many 2s and 3s attached to BD. That is not a good sign for them leading into the remaining regionals. As I've said before BD could lose several captions come Indy (horns, percussion, GE, guard). Irving Fan of the Arts
  21. Crown was never in the running for 1st place. This is a two horse race with Bluecoats wanting back on the podium. I think Cadets have more punch to their show than BD. One thing for sure we ain't seeing no 99.65 this year! Irving Fan of the Arts
  22. Think about it; Cadets could win GE, percussion, and horns. Crown could take color-guard (finally) away from BD. It could happen folks. Irving Fan of the Arts
  23. Exciting indeed!!! But these scores mean nothing until they come together at the first major regional. Then let's see how the caption numbers fly. But to put another teaser on this I do see BD maybe losing a couple captions head to head (maybe three). Now isn't that interesting. Irving Fan of the Arts
