Fan Network Live Streams of Shows ?
tja273 replied to Triple Forte's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
This is why I didn't buy it this year. I can rarely drop everything, take over the living room and watch a few hours of drum corps on their schedule (especially when the shows are a 2-3 hour time difference). I hate it. I usually have become very familiar with most shows by now, after watching tham all several times (live and replays). That is all gone. I will go to the theater, and I may still buy a single DCI Live show, but otherwise this has been a pretty disappointing season for me. I really hope DCI can get this figured out in the future. This must be a revenue hit for them this year. If nothing changes, I expect the drop off will be even larger next year. -
Highest Elevation Show Ever Tonight?
tja273 replied to Granny Smith's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
BITD, we would spend several days leading up to the Denver show in Glenwood Springs, CO (about 500 feet or so higher than Denver). When we "dropped down" to Denver for the weekend show, we had no issues. -
Using arrangements from other corps.

I know that Wayne Downey publishes a great deal of work sold through his web site (xtremebrass.com) including some Blue Devil Classics. I believe he also works with a group or groups in Japan, based on some of his Facebook posts. -
What champions went undefeated the whole season.
tja273 replied to BKlover's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Not the first week. It was July 15th in a little town called Concord, CA. There is still something to be said about playing to your home crowd. -

Yes. After losing the first show, we spent a week on show changes and added spats to the uniform...never looked back. Also, remember in 1988, the semifinals scores were not announced (there was the famous draw for position at finals). So, although we lost both semis and finals, no one knew it until finals. -
Blue Devils injured guard member

Yes, but she is young and healthy...you are OLD!!! (so am I) -
Yep. If there is so much concern about a corps scoring "too high" they can all agree to change the criteria on the sheets to make it more difficult to get into box 5. Then, once everyone adjusts to that, they can change it again...and again... and again...

Looks like we can't use the word for "feminine products".

Thanks for being a ######. Dan was a fantastic horn player that nailed that solo every night except finals and during one victory concert earlier in the season.

George Hopkins response to the critics
tja273 replied to d1358531's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I actually think it might be fun to see all of the other 11 corps crowd the front and sides of the field and watch the encore run. Think about it. Many of these corps have never seen the others perform due to schedules.- 134 replies

Anyone else feel bad for the Cadet's members?
tja273 replied to JamesKPolk's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I don't feel bad for them at all. They played and marched their butts off, looked and sounded fantastic, and went home with a Bronze medal. How many other corps would have liked to get that medal last night? I do wish they would reconsider the stiff and formal retreat block at finals and immediate departure. BITD, even when most corps were a bit more formal at retreat, the finals retreat, at least after the scores were read, was a bit more of a party. Corps mingles, hugged, exchanged congratulations, etc. Most corps still do this, even though it is the only retreat of the year. I wish these kids could join the party. However, I am sure George explains all of this well to them, which is why you did not see one of them drop out of character last night. Anyway, great job, Cadets.
