I've been there many times and it seems like there is always construction there. Memphis fan, huh?

You make a very good point about next year's championships not being in Bloomington. With Indy, you will have to deal with traffic and possibly construction. However, Nap-town has the lodging that B-town does not. I thought Bloomington was a nice venue for the championships and I'm glad I went. At first, I was not going to go because it was not going to be Indy. I thought Bloomington = boring. The stadium is nice, lots of parking, and you could not have asked for more beautiful weather!!! As far as the weather, I think it's below average for much of the midwest. I know it would be much hotter and humid in SW Illinois (where I drove from).

If Phantom did an alumni corps
gbell211 replied to wolfgang's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Yes, please!!!!! We already have requests for Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 (and they better not leave that out) and New World Symphony. This corps knows how to play a ballad and make it sound beautiful. -
This was a great year for drum corps and I really enjoyed the shows. Congrats to Phantom Regiment for winning and not having to share the world title!! Milk it for all that it's worth!! Carolina Crown has become one of my favorite corps now. Keep up the great work!! I'm glad to see Madison Scouts make it back in the finals. The corps that really impressed me this year was the Blue Stars. I know you all were good last year, but I really enjoyed this year's show! Congratulations for finishing in the top 10. My only complaint is that the season is over....and it went by so fast.

This turned out to be a really good year for drum corps, but I don't think it's the best ever. For the most part, I really enjoyed the performances. So, when was the last good year of drum corp before this one?? 2003??
-
Carolina Crown's show was amazing this year!! :worthy: Year after year, you all keeping taking it to another level and have become one of my favorite drum corps. Coming in fourth place and beating on my favorites for a long time, The Cadets? :worthy: Crown's percussion also beat The Cadets this year!!! WOW!!

The official "Phantom wins!" topic!

I noticed that too. Recaps were all over the place and the best show won. Phantom went from 3rd, to 2nd, to 1st. -
Good post. I think if you're going to use narration you need to do it right. I thought Phantom Regiment (although narration was not amplified) and Bluecoats used narration effectively this year. Carolina Crown's use narration last year was used very well.

World Class Quarterfinals Discussion Thread

Are you referring to the guard member from The Mandarins. If so, I think the wind had a lot to do with that. I was quite windy that day. That was actually my first time attending the quarterfinals and I had a good time was really excited all the corps compete. I thought the attendance was low The people around me were friendly and enjoyed the whole thing. For the most part, I enjoyed the performances and I think the music is better this year than last year. I thought Spirit and Crossmen could have done better, and the Colts and Boston Crusaders were scored too low. I really like the Blue Stars this year and their concept of a bike race! Phantom Regiment was my favorite that night!! The new ending was awesome!!! -
I'm quite surprised not a lot of people did the yell. I said "Vanguard" but didn't yell it.

Actually, I enjoy the announcer. When I was at quarterfinals, there were serious problems with the PA system.

What will the top score at Bloomington be?

I can't see anyone breaking 99 this year. -

Yeah, Madison Scouts and Cadets got screwed. That's way too far to travel. All other corps are a hop, skip, and a jump from Bloomington compared to them. I guess they could not find anything along I-65 or I-70. Pendleton is almost to Anderson. Madison Scouts might as well been in Evansville. -
You should be able to get in just fine. I bought my tickets through Ticketmaster for the Murfreesboro show and got in just fine. I did the same thing for Bloomington.

My thoughts and prayers go out to him and the entire Blue Devils family. Be blessed!

I went to the show and my two favorites were Phantom Regiment and Carolina Crown. I can't believe how close Phantom is from the Cavaliers; they were definitely ON tonight!!! They're loud and they looked great in all areas. Their guard was the best I've seen in a good while. Go Phantom!!! I also liked Crown's show this year. Their hornline is incredible and the guard was fabulous. They keep stepping it up year after year. Cavaliers and Blue Devils could have gone either way. Cavies put on a good performance but their color guard was off. Same thing with the Blue Devils. I could not get into their show and they're definitely living up to the show title, "Constantly Risky Absurdity." I can tell SCV has a very demanding show and I hope they pull it together by world championships. I really want them to do well and move up in the rankings. The Bluecoats did good tonight. I really like the concept of the show and their use of narration is done pretty well. Did someone mention some of the narration was cut off tonight? Now, for The Cadets. I'm big a fan of them, but their show is like oil and vinegar (or apples and oranges). There is absolutely no connection between the narration and the music. Their hornline is loud (as always) and the music and drill are great, but the narration is not augmenting the show.

They are doing extremely well so farm but I really don't know. I am shocked they're so close to the Cavaliers In fact, I won't touch that with a 10-ft. pole.
