  1. Cadets have the Z-Pull Crossmen have X's in their drill And usually one corps each year has something phallic...
  2. Music in the Meadows in Bridgewater, MA was one that I found funny at least.
  3. I would just be excited for the changes they've made to the design for a possible peripheral out of the left eye.
  4. I don't think DCI is trying to keep drum corps a secret from the masses, they just want to control the way it's viewed. If Johnny is showed a video on Youtube or any other video online, if he doesn't like it, he's only sacrificed 2 to 5 minutes of his time. If Johnny goes to a show or purchases a DVD or downloads something from the Fan Network and doesn't like it, he has given time and money to DCI.
  5. Okay I guess DCI could have worded it better then. More corps to come implies that they have corps lined up to be at said shows, but it wasn't official. IMO it would be easier and more accurate to say something like 'The lineup of corps is not finalized and subject to change.'
  6. So I was looking on the 2011 schedule for shows in my area, and some of these shows like the one in Bridgewater, MA on the 15th of July. We have 7th, Les Stentors, Platinum, the Muchachos, and the Spartans. Also included in the line up are 'more corps to come!' Unless I've missed something, are there any corps going for evaluation to compete in DCI in 2011? I know we had Genesis, Forte, Platinum and Spartans in 2010, but I was under the impression that the only corps being evaluated on the horizon was Imperial Sound, but it was my understanding they would not go for DCI evaluation until 2012. Imperial Sound folks feel free to correct me on that, but are there any other corps going to be added otherwise to these shows. I hardly doubt any of these corps are WC.
  7. Best of luck with your auditions and winter camps Music City
  8. I feel like the biggest issue is the reason behind joining a band. Some do it for the social aspect, some for a credit requirement, some because they think it'll be an easy class, and others because they love music. Because a lot of people join high school band for reasons other than an opportunity to play music and march on a field, they don't approach the activity the same as those who do. IMO this is why you have the people that don't put in the full 100% effort. I would hazard a guess that most people join drum corps nowadays because they want to be the best at something or push themselves harder than with their high school or college band. They like performing, they like marching, they like music. These kids want to do it at a very high level. Add that to the rehearsal schedule in the spring training/tour and you get the product we know and love.
  9. Anyone that marches a baritone or higher horn should not complain, as well as any snare or bass drum under 26". Unless they want to get dirty looks from the euphs, tubas, low basses and quads...
  10. I wasn't familiar with the original but even after hearing it, I prefer the Bluecoats version if for only the energy in the brass feature. Nothing against the original, I like it too.
  11. I'm not saying that the top 5 of the OC should go to WC Quarters, I was only supposing that those corps go and the others opt out for whatever reason. I'd like to see all the OC corps go to WC Quarters, I was only expressing concern for the length of the day for everyone involved. I wouldn't too happy being up at 3am for a 8am performance time but if it meant going against all of the corps combined that would be awesome. I'm upset I aged out right before this rule came into effect.
  12. The Spartans were also caught one morning at rehearsal.
  13. Well, I have faith that the design staff will be as tasteful as possible with their choices for the show this season. I'm sure the Twilight portion of the show will fit in with the other elements. That said, I'm much more interested to hear which pieces from Key Poulan they will be performing.
  14. I would be more concerned with the length of the day. Say the top 5 corps from the OC go to WC Quarters. Though on average OC corps have shorter shows, it's bumping up the # of corps to +/- 30 corps and extended the day by about an hour.
  15. I marched two years, and due to that and a bad family history, I have had a lot of knee pains. Finals week I was in two braces and taking 4-800 mg of Advil daily. As far as my back, I haven't had any problems to really speak of. Marching a tuba just made everything hurt.
  16. Co-sign. Crown or Phantom would be my choices to play this. Maybe Bluecoats...
  17. I always hated how my helmet was tilted from playing tuba...
  18. Chicken Parm, Chicken Patties, and STEAK NIGHT!
