  2. Impulse did an entertaining Incredibles show a few years ago. Great music. I think it's a good option for Madison, just not a likely one. They just had a superhero show.
  3. Lance, do I know you? Is the band you're thinking of Sumner High School?

  5. This. Bluecoats shook my core in the opener, more than once.

  7. ...and it doesn't even have to be only champions, I suppose. I'm just curious to see what others think about this topic. Where would the "Top 5 Most Legendary Shows" fall? Could any corps from 1972-2007 be crowned champion based on the way shows are judged today (not to mention the intense competition within the Top 12, this year in particular)? In terms of recent years, I think Cadets '05 still stands up pretty well, as does Cavies '02. I can't really convince myself that any show prior to 2002 could win it all today... ...MAYBE Star '93... Thoughts?

  9. Does anybody know the link to Hoppy's blog? I would LOVE to know how he's feeling...
  10. Sorry, I should be more clear. I don't mean to imply that OP is the one doing the mud dragging. It's just scattered around this thread, and around DCP in general. Not many will admit to it, but MANY will allude to it.
  11. Here's how I see it. The state of the activity then, now, good, bad, or otherwise is always going to be an OPINION. There is no absolute solution to comparing any two years or decades to each other. Yes, if you were truly dedicated to doing so, you could watch every single show and count the number of standing ovations year after year, show after show. As I see it, there are too many variables to determine what deserves a standing ovation then, now or ever. Some love the past, and long for it. Others live in the now, and bask in what is currently being produced. Others still, look forward to the next big thing, or the evolution of the activity. It's ok to feel how you feel, but please don't drag this generation of performers through the mud. They work just as hard as you did, and deserve the same respect. Whether you intend to "bash" the design staff or the performers, it's the performers who...well...performed the show. Maybe, instead of seeing what's "wrong" with the activity today, and just ranting about it on DCP, try BEING the change. You don't like the fact that these kids aren't having a so-called "great" experience? Perhaps create it for them. I believe one must maintain an open mind in order to receive fulfillment. That's how I see it, anyway...
  12. So, I'm not sure if this has come up in the past, but it has been bothering me for years. Tonight, Crown took 1st in Chesapeake, VA with a score of 75.95. Now, don't flame too hard, but by Finals night, they will be sitting AT LEAST at 95.5. At least. Probably higher. So, where am I going with this? Let's use the example of the Cascades. Last year, they ended their season at Quarters with a score of 74.950. Now, am I supposed to believe that Crown tonight were only one point better than Cascades at Quarters last year? I'm not tearing down the Cascades, I just don't see how this is possible. Thoughts?
