  1. Loved the Harry Connik jr OTL, "Someones there" I actually have one of those dice ! G
  2. I just love hearing strains of the 1991 OTL of "Commencement" in this years show....Its my absolute favorite OTL of all time and to hear it again, see it with this guard ...what a treat. I love this show almost as much as I love 2010, I cant get enough, I like the humour in it the intensity and the aspect of non engagement that is potrayed....they make it look so easy, it was true in 1980 and its true now. Geoffrey
  3. No, I dont think so...you have a bias ! Geoffrey
  4. Theres more to colorguard judging that how it looks to the eye in the stands. We werent actually at the show, were we ? Geoffrey
  5. I've been adding + to posts also, I have no clue the rhyme or reason of this +/- feature..its really being used as just a popularity contest and yet another reason for histilities and conflict in these already delicate forums. We should get rid of this feature. Geoffrey
  6. I could have sworn I read on here over and over that if the Blue Devils keep winning with the type of shows they have been offereing since 2009, that the fans would stay away ? Its even been said by some of you here. And now 2012, Blue Devils went into Atlanta undefeated, yet there was a record crowd ? This is indeed a very bright spot on a somewhat shaky season... many local shows have tons of empty seats on the fifty and there are indeed less shows than in previous years. Now, what caused this spike in attendance ?? 1) Promotion ? 2) Quality of corps and info regarding reptoires and shows ?? 3) Band kids admitted at a discount rate ? 4) Not many shows in the area ? 5) Boredom with the Oilcan ? I want to jump on this band wagon, I want to see corps grow and the activity flourish. We need to pinpoint just what happened here in Atlanta, will it continue into championships week? and what can be done in the off season to make this a steppingstone to greater things ?? Geoffrey
  7. 1984 Garfield 1987 phantom regiment 1988 blue devils 1990 star of Indiana 1998 cadets 2000 cavaliers 2003 cavaliers Geoffrey
  8. 2000 cavaliers was much more interesting than the sterile 02 cavalier offering. Geoffrey

  10. 1991 blue devils - commencement 1979 phantom regiment - organ symphony 1980 27th lancers - folk song suite 1983 Madison scouts- colas bogueon(sp) overture 1984 sun coast sound -six.o.s 1987 SCV - Russian Xmas 1991 cadets(yes really) short ride.... G
  11. Its called Christmas music because its best enjoyed........around CHRISTMAS. I love it but I want to hear it when its in the season, its not just run of the mill music, its for a reason, a holiday, a season, not for a drum corps show in the hot summer, message or not, freedon to do so, or not. I dont mind this show, but it will never be embraced because its using non mainstream ideas. Geoffrey
  12. 100% with 1:38 left....for the ties, it wouldnt let me answer the corps I chose first. not fair. Geoffrey
  13. No Keith, you were kicked out, not banned, and it was unanimous by all four moderators, because you were harassing other members and their views, making misguided assumptions, and refused to conform to the community. Geoffrey
  14. Wow, SCV is absolutely on fire tonight !! G
  15. Some thoughts at the break: Im finding something good about every corps this year. Some highlights, I absolutely love everything about the look and sound of Academy. Uniforms, guard, music....love them. Clean up and they could be finalists Glassmen and Colts are coming along nicely, love their show concepts. Troopers are much stronger than last viewing. Blue Knights are as weird as can be and totally entertaining. I love the guard. Blue stars compared to first night in the theatre ? Night and day. Loving this show. Spirit of Atlanta, best I have liked them since 2002. Strong, polished, confident and so easy to get lost in what they are doing, looks like some staging issues have been addressed and they can really make a move. Boston seems a little tired, much stronger last year. Like the show theme, drill isnt working in many areas and not showcasing the ideas of the brass/percussion. Like the guard.... Dinner time. Geoffrey
  16. Then you would have LOVED 2008 Cadets....check em out !! Geoffrey
  17. While I liked 2011, last years show..theres just something magical about this years show. Its not going to be beat, it has all the elements, and its not only technically a monster, its fun, its easy on the ear, yes hummable, visually, its pretty, lots of good movement and field coverage and something that BD does the best..integration of all sections. That brass is outstanding and I love their style. Believe me, I love Crown, SCV, Phantom, three of the best shows of the year, but when BD comes on theres just something extra special about it. Geoffrey
  18. I havent read it all yet but let me guess, BD bashing galore ?? Geoffrey
  19. OMG SCV, Unbelievable...my new favorite show of the year. G
  20. It would free up about ten people for the flutes or saxaphones ! Geoffrey
  21. It sucks that I cant find people to enjoy this years BD show with, I had the same problem in 2010. I love the Blue Devils, no doubt, but Im not gonna jus tlike them because of who they are...this show is really, really fun, its thrilling, funny, subtle, in your face....totally embraceable...if you want to. I wish more people would give it a chance , it really does seem many peopl cant wait for the season tos tart to just totaly dismiss their efforts or give the BD a chance to actually entertain them..even at face value. I love Crown, I still think they might win it all, I would be fine with that, should they earn it..I called it back in 2003 they would be the first new champion and I still believe that. I love Phantom Regimet, simply their best show, to me, in the last twenty years. Breathtaking. Cadets thrill me because I love how they cover the field and love their patterns when they hit the big notes..... I never care who wins, I want the best to win, even if its not my favorite, I just want it to be the best......I would hate for the BD to be the best and not win just because the "masses" dont get it. Geoffrey
  22. Brilliant, true, and to the point. case closed. G
