  1. 10. Thou shalt not take Michael Boo's name in vain.
  2. If anyone was at the show, how was BD's execution tonight compared to last?
  3. Thanks for telling me what everything means and what everyone's true intent is. I am a mere mortal myself and, as such, have nothing at my disposal other than experience, observation and logical analysis on which to base my conclusions. In my foolish attempt to be fair to everyone, I am ashamed to admit I thought context should always be considered relevant and if one were to witness, for example, the clubbing of a baby seal, that cheering would not be the most appropriate response.
  4. What's the difference? And remember before you answer you have already told us the booing is not about the judge's opinions but how good people think the corps are.
  5. By your logic, cheering for the Blue Devils coming in first is EXACTLY THE SAME THING as saying you are glad Crown was lower.
  6. I think they are booing the judges for NOT rewarding a corps who show they DO like. That is why they boo during the announcement of Crown's score. Did anyone boo during the announcement of Blue Devil's score?
  7. I don't see how anyone could possibly NOT know that the booing is for the judges. Does the booing occur when the Blue Devils are announced? When they enter the field? When they pass in review? It is an insult to the MM's to suggest that they are too stupid to understand that it is the judges being booed, and it is icing on the insult cake to suggest that even if they thought they were themselves being booed, these kids who endure and accomplish so much would be too weak to take it anyway. It is interesting how willing people are to insult them in this manner so that they can use the excuse of defending the MM's to attack others.
  8. Was there and agree completely. The opener gave me chills and the narration was part of it all. But later the ballad narration was jarring. Would have been better with a male and female voicing the actual characters at a much gentler volume. Awesome show though and I am so glad they came out west. :smile:/>
  9. Mountain Standard Time though. Arizona does not have daylight savings time though so it is actually 3 hours earlier than EDT.
  10. Sound precedential policy, horrendous specific application. Solution = DCI puts it on their own page for the week?
  11. That show still brings tears to my eyes. Especially when they turn the banner to 'Let Freedom Ring' down the stretch of Appalachian Spring. The whole ending was such an emotional moment if felt like the whole crowd was feeling the same thing.
  12. I still remember thinking they sounded like a top 4 or 5 corps that year.
  13. I'm just hoping I get to see the Cadets show by Christmas.
  14. I think it was BD's home show in 1999. Blue Devils were partway through the show and suddenly the power went out, plunging the stadium into almost complete darkness. There was a beat where the sound dropped off a bit as the corps was as surprised as anyone, but then they continued full on and played the rest of the show in the DARK. In what other activity would that happen?
  15. I was really enjoying this show until I ran out of quarters.
  16. And then in October you'll find out I didn't really have permission to make music with you.
  17. Liking either can get you killed but...oh you meant the shows... I would like to have seen Juliet performed at the level of execution that Turandot had, or Turandot performed with the level of passion that Juliet had.
  18. In a case where the problem is limited to electronic samples, a solution might be for DCI to require any corps that has not been able to secure the rights to those samples perform ONE recorded Indy show (e.g., Prelims) without including them so there is an option to splice it in later in case the rights still cannot be obtained.
  19. Just for the record, educational purpose is generally considered a fair use if it is not signicantly for profit, so a license should not normally be required in the case you describe.
  20. Spirit - What are the odds of you and me getting together? Blue Knights - You're not from around here, are you? Madison - Wanna see some pictures of an exhibitionist? Cadets - When can I unwrap my present? Phantom - Is that a sword or are you just unhappy to see me?
  21. I appreciate the challenge of the situation, but if it takes hours of unpaid labor then it takes hours of unpaid labor. It is DCI's responsiblity and, after last year's debacle, I don't think inconvenience is going to sound like a decent excuse to many people. To their satisfaction? Maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect this is such a small deal to the copyright holders they are unlikely to care enough to spend the time listening to determine whether it is to their satisfaction. They may well just say no automatically to concerns this small because it isn't worth their time to investigate compared to licensing opportunities that could bring in serious money. If DCI says they edited out, or even if they don't say anything but just do it, I suspect that would be the end of it. If DCI can't get the relevant voice samples cleanly enough out of the finals audio, I would note that many of the voice samples in the prelims are at a much lower volume, such that it is not easy to hear them to begin with, so I would think they could get there if they sub in the prelims audio for those spots. And as far as professional quality is concerned, compared to a big ugly jarring gap of silence I think I am OK with not quite perfect.
