Does anyone know if these exist, or have them to sell? 2002 Division 1 Semi Finalists DVD positions (13 - ??) 2003 Division 1 Semi Finalists DVD positions (13 - ??)

This mess is making me wonder if YEA should be halted for a year or two while they rebuild? This is a major issue and distraction from what they are supposed to be doing on a day to day basis. I realize there will be collateral damage in making a decision like that, but I think they need to do more than just "pump the brakes" to correct.

Timing would be good for drum corps to have it's #MeToo moment right now. There is no way this is an isolated story.

One evening there are current scores, and a dropdown to refer to shows earlier in the season, then next evening there is NOTHING listed at all, and I am wondering if I am looking at an old, dead WWW site. Next day everything is back in place. Next day it is all missing again. Is it SO HARD to keep an accurate score reporting page posted to the internet? I understand that they probably outsource all of this WWW work, but there site has taken a step backwards in at least one of its most critical functions. It's a lot harder to plan, enjoy, or anticipate an upcoming event when you have no idea how your favorite corps are doing.

I marched with Carl. He is, in every sense, a great guy, and a regular guy. Kind, humble, understated, awesome.

Thanks for these very, very well done reviews. You clearly understand how the judging of the activity works to a higher level than most folks (me included). In cases where you were critical of some of my favorite corps, your analysis of their show's weak points were fair, and pretty darn accurate. Great work!

Here is my synopsis on Rifles (and I mean the actual people as much as I mean the equipment). Having NOT read any of the previous comments (political or not), I just want to say Rifles (the people) are the greatest risk takers in the activity. They are the Flying Wallendas of the gridiron. On any given night, the greatest equipment handler can be reduced to the most worthless schlub on the field with (sometimes only) one error. Ask any rifle or flag who dropped, and whose corps lost by 1/10th of a point in the tic era. They will tell you the shame. The color guard is simultaneously the least respected, least rehearsed, and most important part of the big picture. The rifle line is the ultimate measure of their precision. A critical drop in a big show is just unforgivable. To explain it any more clearly would force me to be crass. As a brass player, I can say that while I was good (very good), there were always moments I could rest, or under deliver, very briefly, if I needed to. The folks in the color guard though, and especially those who dared to throw the rifle so high, and catch it as if it were nothing, (like it's return were as guaranteed as a blink is with a sneeze!) always had to be at the top of their game. They were (and are) the highwire heroes of our activity. While a screaming soprano will take your breath away, a huge toss, or catch, will stop your heart. To wonder if rifles should be pushed out is to wonder, if horns (bugles) or drums should be mothballed as well. We are all playing military signaling devices, and tossing armaments and nationalistic emblems (flags) about for the sheer purposes of entertainment and competition. In the end, I think we all need to relax and realize that no matter what the symbols are in this activity, they stand for some core values (creativity, strong work ethic, excellence) that truly transcend the more simple pieces of equipment we use to express ourselves. We are DCI.

He taught me to play THAT LOUD too. One of my proudest moments was in an early season show where a judge from the pressbox asked on the tape that someone talk to me about not overpowering the rest of the horns on my side of the field (during a Forte part no less). A rookie mistake, yes, but the fact that I had the lungs to make that happen it was all Doug's doing.

You are obviously YOUNG, and DUMB. We were all saying this about drum corps in 1985 (when we were young and dumb!).

I'd resurrect The Bridgemen because I feel like the activity has trended so far away from their brand of pure entertainment.

I did not get to see that discussion, but I have to say that if they start to address this issue, it may go a long way toward fixing what is wrong with modern drum corps.

I believe members of the percussion line make an appearance on stage as part of one of the songs.

I want to thank Chris Komnick for his detailed post in this thread. While I may choose to believe some of his points, and dismiss others, I think it was very nice of him to at least post SOMETHING to address speculation out here. I'll accept the information that he gave for what it was, be thankful that he posted it, and not TROLL HIS ### OFF so that we never get a peep of information going forward. While I respect dissenting opinions, and might even have few of my own, I think it's kind of rude to figuratively kick the messenger in the gonads in a public forum. What the heck!!!!

Hmmm. The scary thing about moving the corps to Indy, and using these resources formerly used by Star of Indiana, sure does make it sound like the fundamental structure of the how the corps is run is being tied to Jim Mason and Bill Cook. While I completely trust these men to run the Scouts, it sets up the organization to rely on the special deals which these two men have the power to make for it. So in a sense, there will probably be no "way back home" for the Scouts. When you consider though that without this kind of assistance, the Scouts would have likely folded, then I guess it is a good thing.

A more plausible, yet equally unlikely solution would be for a corps to "go throwback" for an entire season. Still likely too expensive though.

Thanks everyone for commenting. I just thought, as i stood in Times Square, that I'd love to come in there with about 100 horns and play something. Maybe we should try to "flash corps" the place.

Hey Everyone, Maybe this is something that has been done a million times by our East Coast units, but I was visiting NYC a few weeks back, and watching some event being done in Times Square, and it made me wonder if any modern drum corps had ever done a standstill in Times Square? BTW, I'm not thinking of some warmup for doing the Macy's parade, I'm referring to an "in season" visit to the area.

I have no idea about their inner workings, but I think they need to do SOMETHING. They had a great show this year, and they just never were able to "light the fire" and have the show take off. They should be able to do better, and I'm all for them doing whatever it takes to improve. Pioneer is a great corps.

I stand with you!! I refer to the higher scoring corps as the Z7 because they do this to me...Zzzzzzz

Colts are on the move. If anyone knows how to come in 12th, it is the Colts. Not saying who they might have to beat to get there, but just saying that they are pretty good at figuring out a way to make it into Finals.

Pioneer is outstanding this year. I don't understand why they are not scoring better, but then again, I don't really care. The opening to their show is one of the best I have seen this season. I am very happy with them, and the kicker is that I have never really been a fan of theirs. Thanks so much for changing my tune. You have a great show!!

My only issue was that the audio from K'zoo was even and clean, but the audio from Denver had problems. Specifically, for most of the evening the announcer was coming in LOUD & clear like he was talking directly into a microphone, but the corps were muffled as if they were miked from across the stadium. This forced me to constantly turn the volume WAY UP as the corps played, and then WAY DOWN as their shows ended. When the volume was turned WAY UP, I could hear a lot of the "artifacts" from the compression (which I think is just something that just happens when you amplify sound took much).
