  1. Can Vanguard break into the top 5, or even the top 3 with the show that they have this year? I've seen clips and lot videos and from what I can tell they have a top 3 drumline, a terrible brass line, and who knows about the guard (from what I hear the wind was terrible in Texas). I've also heard the design for the show has great potential. I personally think that if the brass pulls it together and SCV makes their famous "late season push" that they will be able to break the top 5. Thoughts?
  2. I honestly dont see Pacificaires winning gold. Probably top 3 though. Honestly they've only gone up 3 points in 3 weeks, whereas Spectrum has gone up 5 points in 3 weeks and scored a 91.7 at MYCGC finals last weekend and Orlando Visual has boosted 8 points in a month. I see it as a close race between spectrum and orlando for the gold and Pacificaires in 3rd.
  3. weird... I've marched with both dynasty tubas, yamaha, king, and jupiter... by far the lightest 2 were yamaha and king... maybe their old models were 29 lbs... they were very bulky.
  4. 5 years of contra. Its tough to get up in the morning due to the pain in my neck from the slightest turn of my head. My back pain comes and goes, depending on the day, if Ive stretched, etc... wouldn't trade it for the world :-)
  5. Ha, just watched all 3 of those... that's kind of bad on his part... I mean not even a little different.
  6. Actually... I marched in one of the corps that placed higher, and I gotta say, Glassmens percussion was and had been on fire all season... they should have been 8th or 9th in percussion, even ahead of my corps. A lot of the judging seemed a little "funny" finals week... oh well, at least I aged out and don't have to deal with the number game anymore... at least as a member...
  7. Crown doesn't do nearly as good as everyone wishes they will. BD isn't the top California corps anymore. Everyone will forget about the G7 stuff once the season starts.
  8. After what, 96 pages of this I almost forgot that everyone is a drum corps expert and knows more than every DCI director and the Director of DCI himself... oh yeah, and that Hopkins is the anti-christ... wow, almost forgot that, good thing I didn't.
  9. Because your drum is tilted? lol. I thought I was the one who marched vanguard?
  10. I would rather see 20 tubas and hear a great bass sound than see 12 tubas and a great synthesized bass... good luck scouts!
  11. Oh yes, that is annoying... I hate it when people express their opinions... especially when it isn't the same as yours... this thread should definitely be closed.
  12. All I remember of the crowd were all the bloos near the end of full retreat...
  13. I wouldnt mind the option of marching til I was 25... even if I didn't want to do every year, I could "age myself out". I would probably just march a smaller corps for a few years like pio and just enjoy the drum corps experience.
  14. I think this would more appropriatey address the Blue Knights...
  15. I'll bite...: 1. SCV- Its about time... 2. Crown- Will fight with scv, but start fading away around allentown 3. Blue Devils- Its gonna take some time to adjust to the new horns and drums 4. Blue Coats- Been on the bubble for quite some time 5. Cavaliers- On the out 6. Cadets- lots of members leave due to "how can you top the 75th anniversary??? especially with WSS?????" 7. Regiment- Ehhh... expect a HUGE loss of talent to auditions 8. Blue Stars- Give them a few more years 9. Glassmen- Deffinately on their way up, just need a good show design, they have the talent 10. Boston Crusaders- Someones gotta fall 11. Madison Scouts- New staff, old madison attitude, I'll give them a shot 12. Blue Knights- On the out, gonna fight with troop for finals, but barely edge them out.
  16. I marched glassmen more recently, and gotta say that many of those great qualities arn't quite there anymore... the staff is great, but as most drum corps there were this group of kids, and that group of kids, and the bass line, and just a bunch of little groups instead of one big family. Not to bash glassmen because I did make a lot of friends there, but after leaving that corps to go on with my marching career, I found much better experiences and a much closer family feeling elsewhere. And to the original topic, I would say I would never want to march either glassmen shows (exception of 08), or blue knights shows due to finding myself bored way too often. IMO.
  17. I think I saw one once that said only : ".025" ... I deffinately lol'd
