  1. I'm sorry.... Visually this show is a mess
  2. Enjoying the music. Not so much the visual design.
  3. Like the brass. Need serious work on visual, especially the body movement.
  4. 79.05 tonight. Only .8 behind Santa Clara. Sorry I'm excited , but when was the last time we could say that. It's been too long.
  5. Great score Cavies!!! Keeping it close with SCV. Only .1 difference in visual, the bigger surprise is only .4 in music. Would like to see the exact breakdown. Oh wait....
  6. You are highly underestimating Cavies new staff if you think that what you see and hear on July 9th will be the same come the middle of August. These new guys mean business. I was at rehearsal yesterday and came away highly impressed. They are risk takers and not afraid to hold back. Very excited to see the finished product. The corps is moving in the right direction. FYI they spent the last rehearsal days cleaning not changing much. Just a little in the closer.
  7. I agree. It must not be ready. The extra minute they added last night was not field ready.
  8. It may have been more then golf claps... But not much. I was surrounded by troopers and BK fans that stood for Cavies and I could here commenting on the wow factor of Propaganda. Those same people didn't even stand for the home corps. You have a huge home crowd and that's the final product you give them? I heard comments like "what was that?" And "hot mess". They played the whole show in the encore. While the music was beautiful is it really enough to surge on the corps ahead of them?
  9. Sorry :( just got so tired of people complaining about it on here. But I won't tell you about the new sections ;)
  10. Everyone will be happy to know....not only is there a clinton a sanders and a cruz sign. BUT....they've added a huge TRUMP banner that the guard does ripple rifle tosses over. Now every party is properly represented. For those that were worried.
  11. Just posted this on the Madison forum: Just got home from the show, didn't stay for scores. BUT, I will say I'm not surprised with how close Academy is scoring to Madison. First off I will say that I'm a huge fan of Jesus Christ superstar and have seen the musical multiple times. Also a huge fan of Madison '99, my favorite show that year. My observations: A) the design staff assumed too much. By this I mean, the show design seems to cater to people who know the musical. An audience who knows the lyrics. The show seems to rely on lyrics that aren't there to further the plot. If I didn't know the show I would be completely lost on where judas fit in, until the betrayal. A lot of the emotion comes from understanding the music, understanding the lyrics. B) Because I do know the show so well, it seems a lot of the music is fragmented and doesn't finish it's thought/phrase. There was no resolution to many of the ideas. And as someone who does know the music I found myself finishing the phrase in my head. It's like the old saying " ###### if you do, ###### if you don't". If you DO know the show you're wanting more, if you DONT...well you may be a little lost. I don't need a show with a plot to be successful, but if you're going to name your show Judas, you should be sure the crowd understands what's going on. Visually, seems a little old school. The body movements seem awkward and out of place. Academy is my local corps and I'm so happy they are doing well... and I mean this as no insult, but if I'm the Madison organization I might be concerned that they only finished a point ahead. 13. Maybe a closer before the closer? Something to bring the scores up thru July, before the real one in Indy?
  14. Wow. Almost six point spread between cavies and blue stars again.
  15. 73.65 for cavies!!! Full panel and only one full day (non show day) of rehearsal this past week.I'll take that.
  16. It's marching band people!!!!!!! Cut us a break already. We're not solving world problems. The show is entertaining and performed well. That's all I need. If you want a plot and deep meaning go to the movies, watch tv, read a book, watch the news. The show is called "propaganda",not "politically correct", not "sorry we offended your candidate". There's always someone on the other side that isn't going to be happy. What may offend one may be another's belief. You made your point, move on...go hijack another thread.
  17. Cavaliers 2008 Samurai Blue Devils 2000 methods of madness
  18. Interestingly enough, the Meow Mix jingle is used as a form of torture by the CIA. True Story. Look it up.
  19. Bloo and Cavies got the only applause in the theater I was at. Was surprised by this because a cadet honk who entered the theater chanting "go cadets", didn't even clap after the cadets performance. General reaction from my group was that coats and cavies were the most entertaining. Cadets drum line is amazing. But their show concept is kind of lost after the first few minutes. Thought they were standing on a cake tier. Felt sorry for violinist whose sound didn't work. Enjoyed last year more Thought show would work better in Maroon n gold, felt black was used so they could get a few years out of the uniform lol. Crown should have high guard and brass. Didn't like show as much as last year. Unless you know what your looking for the details will be lost if sitting in the stands. That's the risk of selling a story. Surprised that phantom beat Boston. Thought that phantom had the most boring show they've seen in a long time. One even said this will be their hot dog corps this year. Did the guard even pick up a rifle? Lack of GE moments. Surprised they even scored that close to Cavies. Coats were great. Wondered if as the season progresses the concept will tire out. Sort of like in 2011 when everyone saw cavies for the first time with the upside down tenors. By the end of season it had less impact. Need to keep it fresh as season progresses.
  20. O M G. Wow. Can't wait to see this show develop. Love the ballad. Guard looks the best I've seen them in awhile.
  21. Thanks for doing this. FYI: that's not Cavies show uniform. It's the parade uniform. All the show pics are on Cavaliers.org/twitter/Facebook. Also cadets have released theirs as well, the black uniforms from last year with a few tweeks. I believe pics are in the cadet forum.
  22. From what I understand the green uniforms are the formal. To be used for parades, etc... Don't think they're used in the show.
  23. Love, love, love Cavies new uniforms. Think both the corps and guard uniforms fit the show perfectly.
  24. I actually really like them. Same style gauntlets and Aussie. I'm excited for the new direction of the corps. Still think they look very much Cavalier while fitting the show. Been waiting for this since...well...2012 They go more green in the formal uniforms used for parades.
  25. When 75% of your corps is not rehearsing or performing the two weeks heading into finals it is an excuse. Was the product flawed, yes. If not for the illness Cavies would've placed higher then Madison and I'm guessing Phantom. While other corps were finessing, Cavies were playing catch up and surviving. When Crowns illness took place it was earlier in the season and I don't remember the corps pulling out of regionals.
