  1. it is really clever, at first glance you may not think of much. But now that i understand it, very subliminal and well done! Now, is X and Y a play on geometric variables or male chromosones or both? It would be cool if the music was XY Chromosones (masculine in nature or song titles) while the drill is geometric referenced. I guess all will find out in the coming weeks. According to facebook, some selections announced next tuesday and more the following tuesday.
  2. look right above the the middle of the X you can see two dots they look like eyes on a reverse negative the diag lines look like the sash...in the bottom right the nose is on a diag 11 oclock to 5 oclock
  3. Did anyone else notice that if you look at the graphic you can see a uniformed member in the upper left hand corner and a face/nose in the bottom right corner. anyone see anything else?
  4. XY would make sense where the Nature BOY rumors fit in
  5. Should be interesting...like others im excited to see this, but at the same time a little leary/hesitant. Im guessing the guard will be wearing "Rock star" clothing. But please dont let the corps change their uni's to look like rock stars' too. If this show is anything like 2004 im afraid im not gonna like it, i thought that show was very "band" as someone else previously used this word. The show seems to have all the potential of being "cool" or the potential of coming off as "cheesey", But I shall reserve all judgement till I see it for myself. And Heaven forbid if theyre's an electric guitar, this message board will blow up. Good Luck Crown
  6. Average Placements starting in 2000: 1) The Cavaliers 1.9 2) Blue Devils 2.0 3) Cadets 3.09 4) Phantom 4.72 5) SCV 5.18 6) Bluecoats 6.54 7) Carolina Crown 7.72 8) Boston 8.0 9) Blue Knights 10.14 10) Blue Stars 10.4 so yes, if it chosen based on average placement. it still holds true. Boston should have been included. so selections pretty accurate
  7. Here's a look at average CHAMPIONSHIP scores starting in 2000: 1) Blue Devils 97.725 2) The Cavaliers 97.59 3) The Cadets 96.45 4) Phantom Regiment 94.0 5) Santa Clara Vanguard 93.93 6) Bluecoats 92.175 7) Carolina Crown 90.625 8) Boston Crusaders 89.69 9) Blue Knights 87.7 10)Blue Stars 87.65 (since 2006) The only exclusion based on the history over the last 11 seasons is that Boston should have been included...not the Blue Stars. So historically, your current TOP 8 arent that far off over many seasons.
  8. This has been previously mentioned, but it has not been verified nor confirmed by anyone from the Cavaliers organization
  9. At this point I'd be happy with some show announcements...just sayin
  10. IF this is indeed true... could be pretty interesting pre-show source material (could fit 3 minute time allotment/mysterious/big hit/amazing synth voices). David Bowies' arrangement was the influence for the movie soundtrack, but also note Miles Davis and Nat King Cole have versions as well.
  11. Phantom 2003- loved the music, but really dirty visually and as someone mentioned previously way overblown SCV 2004- dont understand everyones "Attraction" to the the show. Phantom 2008- amazing ending! but weak visually/guard. BD 2009- doesnt need explaining Scouts 2010- good to see them in finals, enjoyed the show the first couple times, but didnt feel like they added enough layers as the season progressed.
  12. Totally agree with you....I thought Cavies had both BD and Phantom beat visually. IMO 2008 overall: BD 1st/Cavies 2nd/Phantom 3rd. LOVED Phantoms ending but agree that overall it is the dirtiest championship show of the decade as well as having the weakest guard of any recent championship shows.
  13. 1 Cavies 2 BD 3 Cadets 4 Crown 5 Coats 6 SCV 7 Phantom 8 Blue Stars 9 Madison 10 Boston 11 BK 12 Academy 13 Glassmen 14 Troopers 15 Colts 16 Spirit 17 Crossmen 18 Teal 19 Mandarins 20 Crest 21 Surf 22 Cascades 23 Pioneer
  14. Can't wait to hear Rennick's score to that piece, but i gotta after say after about 20 secs or so i had to work at enjoying the music. i agree...after about 20 seconds i think i got a migraine. forced myself to listen to the whole thing...fan-friendly this piece is not. definitly will be interesting to see how this develops. Lets see, now we have Angels in a good v evil way(cadets), Devils(SCV), Vampires?(phantom or glassmen), Revolution(boston) are we gonna get any happy shows this year?
  15. ....loud is not always better ;) while outstanding, you could definitly hear some brass issues, especially during their endzone to endzone drill. and remember the field judge may hear some things that we might not have picked up on. just like if we watch a show on dvd 100x we might notice mistakes visually that the judges didnt catch cuz they were lookin at somethin else and we watched the same thing over and over.
  16. Visually definitly agree with Cavies over Bluecoats in every subcaption. And agree with the judges having Cavies in percussion by .20, if the spread were anymore i may have disagreed with them. Musically, the judges had the scores so close to one another(a tenth or two) i dont think that they were the game changer. The visual subcaptions are what gave the Cavies their higher placement. Even if you dont like the Cavaliers or Mad World, you have to agree with me that visually those men performed that show amazingly. AND if you dont agree with me try watchin the DVD again, look at their attention to detail.
  17. Cavies 06(MACHINE) is a popular choice but Cavies 08(Samurai)is my choice. I still think this is one of the most underrated shows of the past decade (along with Cavies 03 Spin Cycle).
  18. The Cavies guard performed the hell out of that show and provided the theatrics to help convey the theme of "MAD WORLD" to the audience. While watching both shows live multiple times and on DVD, I found myself(not a guard person) watching the Cavies guard alot, the 'Coats while they were good/clean nothin really stood out for me or provided those "wow" moments. ...and as far as visual design. the difficulty and transitions of Cavies program and Michael Gaines' drill was on another level, sorry. The few spacing errors/mistakes they had kept the score from being closer to BD, not closer to the Bluecoats. And i agree with another post that said what the judges see live is completely different then the multiple times we get to watch it on DVD. The Cavaliers as a whole performed and sold that show to the audience on finals night, I think the Bluecoats may have had their best performance during quarters/semis.
  19. If ANY of the speculation regarding Phantom or Glassmens' shows prove to be correct we could have 3 shows in the top 12 (Phantom/Glassmen/Cadets) that could possibly be, good v. evil/vampire/goth based. Plus you add Crest with a themes like Sinvitation 7 and Cascades doin Pandora: A dark gift. Plus so many more corps to announce! Little Jeffey's lookin pretty good right now;) I hope these corps surprise us and prove all the specultion wrong, cuz I'm already over it. Dont get me wrong I love a dark show but sometimes too much of a good thing... Does anyone else think that the success of this years Top 3 had anything to do with the new rumored craze? We had BD (through A Glass Darkly) and Cavies (Mad World) definitly doin dark themes and Bluecoats music was definitly dark as well...just a thought.
  20. so 200 at the Rosemont audition plus ? at the Austin audition in December...looks like theres gonna be some tough competition for spots this year. It would be interesting to know how many from both camps get invited for the January callbacks.
  21. omg...if Boston sings as much as RCC did (watch the video) the Crusaders will need to prepare for a REVOLUTION, cuz DCI fans (especially DCP members :) ) will not be happy
  22. FYI Even if Vanguard Percussion would have scored a perfect 20, the corps in 2010 would have placed no higher then 6th. While Rennick is a great addition to their team, I think there are some other captions they need to improve on as well.
  23. is Revolve, the actual title? in the article it doesnt directly give the title it just says the show will revolve around the concept of revoltion, featuring music of Les Mis, 1812, etc... Revolt would make more sense, when i hear revolve i think of circling something( like the earth revolves around the sun). and the primary definition is the same.
  24. Here's my 12 shows for the year: Phoenix, June 22 Loveland, July 8 Denver, July 9 Broken Arrow, July 20 Denton, July 21 Houston, July 22 **TOC Event** San Antonio, July 23 Allentown, August 5 Allentown, August 6 Massillon, August 9 Indy, August 12 Indy, August 13
