More seriously, BD are a very good modern era drum corps. There are other very good modern era drum corps. My favourite Devils show of all time is probably 1982, but they wouldn't win if they put that show on this year so they do something that they think might. That is good management planning. Other corps are trying to do similar things but haven't been quite as successful recently. Personally I want Phantom to win it all but they probably won't. Do I think judges get things wrong? Yes. But they get things right as well.

I am sure that Cavs are closer to where Cadets, Crown, Bloo WERE, but in a sense of where the real picture is, I think how close Glassmen and Madison are to them is much more telling.

I also am having trouble with this year's shows on the FanNetwork, so I haven't been able to watch Cadets properly yet and as such don't want to make much of a comparison. I just want to thank the OP for making me go back to watch a show I hadn't looked at for 20 years. Sure the execution visually etc. wasn't top notch ( they did finish 11th after all) but what a program. Ideas wise and brass book wise that was a top 4 or 5 show and perhaps most tellingly ENTERTAINING at the same time. Thanks again.

The 60 pages need to be looked at carefully. These new shows are said to be in ADDITION to the existing touring set-up. There are only so many nights available in the summer and perhaps more importantly, only so many weekends. How they do this with no negative impact on existing smaller shows that one or two of the powerhouses attend at present, or the big weekend shows that go towards seedings for quarters/semis will have to be buried in their. I would appear on first sight though that the super-seven plan on being there whatever, and that others may be able to add themselves to the proposal if they meet whatever set of criteria they have come up with. Open class. - Carry on as best you can.

Proposed to my wife overlooking Niagara Falls having spent the night before in Simcoe. Went to Port Dover en-route. The back to East York to stay with family. Part of a 3 week visit to lots of family in Ontario. Never saw a single drum corps though...
