  1. 2000 Cadets ( am tempted to put that all 3 times ) 1992 Crossmen ( my most listened to ) 1984 Suncoast Sound ( thank you to the member who sat in the stands after their show with us and let me live my Drum Corps dream vicariously through his stories )
  2. I want to thank DCI , not for a great season ( which it was ) but for making my 13 year old daughter a fan. I have been a drum corps fan for almost 40 years starting when there were local DCA shows in Johnstown NY. I discovered DCI in high school and although I never marched ( biggest regret not marching with 83 Avant Garde ) I have been a fan ever since. I took my daughter to the theater to for updates see the the season opener the last couple of years and she used to just tolerate it. This year she loved it and begged me to take her to see Big Loud and Live Thursday night. We have since spent the last 2 nights checking DCP for updates. She is disappointed that Crown lost but can't wait till next season. So thank you to DCI and all of the Corps who made this such a great season. I now have another generation of drum corps fan in my family. There were 15 great shows that we saw and now I have an easy Christmas present DVDs here we come!
  3. I don't know how to post videos, but the video of Spirit and Crossmen's hornlines playing to each other is awesome
  4. I have been to 19 of the last 20 shows there, have a lot of great memories of these shows. This is where I got most of my drum corps fix and more importantly introduced my kids to drum corps. My son bought a Jersey Surf hat there a couple of years ago and we were going to get it autographed by a corps member last year but of corse he couldn't find it before the show. We found the hat and were hoping to do it this year. To all of you who performed here let me just say thank you. Everyone of you brought a lot of joy to me and my family, and you will all be missed.
  5. I have a question for those who are in favor of a transfer fee. Each year there are afew threads started by a few people who audition for but get turned down by their top choice. The overwhelming response for this is advice to try smaller, or open class corps to get the experience or to work on what they need improvement in. I guess my question would be: If there was a transfer fee in place what advice would you give to someone in this situation?

  7. I am really bummed that Adirondack Drums is not on the schedule. I have only missed 1 show in the last 20 plus years, and other than Rome the only other NY show is in Buffalo. Come on DCI these corps need more directors chairs.
  8. I don't know how to post a video of it but Phantom playing Amazing Grace does it every time. I want to put it in my will to give them ten grand if they will play at my funeral.
  9. When I was in jr high school my dadtook us tu a DCA competition at Knox field in Johnstown NY. I loved what I saw and heard there. A few years later I saw an add on a local TV station for Drums along the Mohawk in Rome. The second year I went to that show it rained all day so the attendence was light. A member of Suncoast Sound sat in the stands with my buddy and me after they performedand told us what corps life was like. This inspired me to try out for Avante Garde but unfortunately I had to work so never got to march. Now I get to bring my kids to a show each year and watch their faces when they see the shows.
  10. I saw them last night and the s0ng was beautiful. If I could I would become a "Surfhead" and follow them from concert to concert in mybeatup VW bus
  11. I was at the show. 7th Regiment I thought had some nice moments, good drum line, definitely improved from last years show. Jersey Surf, WOW, my son fell in love with them 2 or 3 years ago at this show and he was on the bandwagon early. The crowd loved the show, the bananna sticks were beaeting and most importantly they had a great show and played it well. They could be a dark horse tosneak up on some people. Teal Sound had the misfortune of following Surf. I really liked their brass line but the crowd reaction wasn't there. INT was good for a change as the Avante Garde Alumni drum line did a feature. Tore my heart out as that was the corps I was going to march but had to get a job instead. Colts kicked off the second half, I have not had the opportunity to see them before and was impressed. I liked their show a lot. They sounded great, liked the drum line a lot. I am a Crossmen fan so I was looking foreward to their show. The brass sounded good and the drumline was what Iexpected. Not sure i love the show but it is good to see them improving. Cadets are a force. I loved everything about their show. There were even times where I could not take my eyes off the guard, and that is unusaul for me. Great job and the show is not corny at all. Just a coupleof quick notes. This was not meant to be an in depth review, just observations from a fan. I thought the crowd was smaller than usual. It is the first time this was not a midweek show in quite a while and maybe that impacted it. My son could not find his Jersey Surf hat so we did not get to get it autographed, but we did get to watch their drumline warm up and he was thrilled. Most importantly a nine and ten year old were thrilled and I got quality drum corps time with my kids
  12. Taking my two kids tonight. My son will be wearing his Jersey Surf hat that he got two years ago. He is hoping to see a member in uniform and get it autographed. Looking foreward to our only definite show this year, although Rome is a possability.
  13. The Avant Garde, then with therest of the money I would invent an age reducing machine so I could get a chance to march with them.
  14. It's been mentioned a couple of times, but 1995 is one of my all-timetop 5 favorite shows.
  15. The first shows I ever saw were DCA shows in Johnstown NY. I loved the Hurricanes ( swing swing swing) and my dad got me into the Cabelleros. On the DCI side I missed my chance to march the Avant Garde, but am a big fan of the Cadets, 2000 my favorite show ever. bought a cd of the Crossmen wit 90, 91, 92, 96 and 97 on it and loved it so I am a bones fan also.
  16. Definitely going to Fort Edward, looking foreward to seeing Cadets and Crossmen. Might make the Rome show, and might make it to Kingston for a DCA show, haven't seen a senior show in about 13 or 14 years
  17. When I was a kid in the 70s there used to be a DCA show at knox field in Johnstown every year. My dad would bring us every year, I remember the Caballeros, the Huricanes, Bucs etc. I never khnew about DCI until after my junior year in high school I saw a commercial for a DCI show in Rome NY and talked my dad into going. We saw SCV, Madison, Spirit, and the Troopers, plus some smaller corps. The lasting image in my mind was the encore where SCV and the Scouts lined up every other member in an arc and blew our faces off. I played drums in our HS band and was amazed at what I saw.One of the smaller corps tha night was was the Avante Garde from Saratoga and a few months later I saw a recruiting commercial for them and was all set to go to a winter camp. Unfortunately when we found out about the dues and financial aspects of it I was unable to march. Biggest regret of my life but I am still a huge fan.
  18. definitely Fort Edward, and hopefully Rome. Best lineup there in years
  19. The Empire show was probably around 98, it was in Gloversville NY
