  1. Cinemark Connecticut Post Mall, Milford, CT, with the better half, as well as Cathy from Hurricanes' HG & souvies, in our remote-controlled "luxury loungers", sporting our purple. Go Mandarins!
  2. Good skills to ya, Spartans, 7th, & Raiders, and good thoughts your way from Connecticut ! EAST!
  3. Now THAT would be the best drum corps story EVER for me!!!!!!!!!!!! And, btw, surprising, yes, but I don't know I'd say astonishing. A great organization, with a great show, with their best talent ever, with big mo seemingly on their side now, as well as the what feels like the majority of the drum corps community pulling for them. . . OTOH, I'll be thrilled to see them hang on to 10th, but, oh, man, would my wife and I ever pop open a bottle of champagne at home Saturday night on hearing the news they pulled off 8th.
  4. Of course, it's a perfectly safe region for spectators and corps. Not like the corps would all be that close to the stadium, anyway.
  5. I like the way you think. Got my rain poncho, a zip lock bag for my phone, dry clothes in the car, and, oh yeah, my tickets. And, BTW, Accuweather says from 43% to 51% chance of rain, with the highest likelihood around 6:00 and after 10:00. Would love to see those #s drop throughout the day .
  6. Go Mandarins! Get that 1.65 and then some! And BAC, too, you got this!
  7. I second the rec for Youell's. Across the street form the park, one block up. Got our res for early dinner there Friday. Then shave ice at the stadium for dessert
  8. For Friday evening, Accuweather is saying 9% chance of rain (around 50% during the day). Sounds good at this point.
  9. Nothing AT ALL against PR, but it would make my (& my better half's) summer to see this happen with our own eyes in Allentown on Friday
  10. Might not necessarily be a significant weakness to lose to Spartans' guard. They're VERY good.
  11. I'd give them a better than 85% chance. Some of the corps below them are improving VERY quickly (Knock, knock!!!), but so are they! In fact, I think they have a very strong chance of passing PR (OK, I hope and wish, too, but I don't think many people would be surprised if they do).
  12. Great job in ATL last night, beloved purple team! So close to knocking off yet one more "big name" corps.. We might even stick around for scores in Allentown in case it happens then .
  13. Here live. Thinking Cincy ahead of Sun. We'll see in a minute or two.
  14. How does flooding probably making the originally planned housing unavailable, either because it's being used as shelter or because it's flooded itself, have anything to do with whether YEA should remain in Allentown or not?
  15. 380 mile round trip for me, $225 for a hotel room last night, five and a half hours for the 168 miles from lunch in Phillipsburg today to home. Big mess of suck. I STILL feel the right decision was made last night . And seeing the source of the first "like" on this post, it was all worth it just to exchange this week's hello with kamaraq and his lovely bride .
  16. Yup, same thing I noticed when I saw them. Brass all down by the right side 30. Heard them from the left side speakers. Love the show, great brass/drums/drill writing, best use of vocalists I've seen, but, c'mon, can't this be fixed pretty easily?
  17. It's wet and getting wetter. Show's cancelled as of ten minutes ago.
  18. We are going absolutely bonkers having to wait two more weeks to see them live finally in Allentown. Heard from a friend who saw them in TX last night, and he was totally sold! Nothing really to add to the conversation here, except, GO PURPLE TEAM!!!!!
  19. On OR off, I'll be in the area, having to leave home many hours before any weather-related decision would be made. Looks 50-50 for rain tomorrow evening last I checked. Everybody cross your fingers.
  20. A little anecdote to show how Mandarins' popularity is spreading: I worked the Clifton, NJ DCA show last Saturday night. Until then, for years I had described myself and my wife as the only diehard Mandarins fans in the northeast. On Saturday, though, we saw a lady with the purple Mandarins logo T-shirt at the show . Welcome to the club, unknown drum corps fan in New Jersey!
