  1. I heard that one of the members of Madison this past season was the very first DCI corps member from Slovakia.
  2. Certainly. Especially after losing Buckingham and Naffier.Oh wait, wrong Colts!
  3. "On the field, from Fort Mill, TX... The Crownssmen!"
  4. Another possibility, although a bit far from ATL, is Sanford Stadium at UGA. Same story, though - not a whole lot of room for the busses and trucks. And if it weren't for the fact that it's monsoon season there in late July, I would propose moving the regional to Orlando - either the recently renovated Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium or the newer, yet more intimate Bright House Networks Stadium at UCF.
  5. Bump. YES!!! I understand it's been done before (Regiment '99, among others). But if they can keep the arrangements more brass heavy and closer to the format of the original, there will be baby throwing!
  6. I hope so, but because the new stadium is being operated by the Atlanta Falcons organization and not the local government, it looks more unlikely than not in my eyes.
  7. "Hide and Seek" was done by Spirit of JSU in 2007 and BDB in 2009. Not to mention, many marching bands have played it as well; most notably, The Woodlands in 2006. How about some Pentatonix? "Run To You" has the potential to be an amazing ballad.
  8. "Wine-Dark Sea: Symphony for Band" by John Mackey. I know a few high school bands have already done or are doing this piece, but I'll be ###### if a corps doesn't play it soon.
  9. So I guess this means that DCI is on the road to recovery regarding the entire copyright situation. Hopefully this means that the triumphant return of the DCI Fan Network will eventually come!
  10. I guess they finally figured out the video rights for the 1974-2014 (as well as Essential Collection) DVDs and Blu-Rays. Hopefully this is a good sign for the 2015 Blu-Rays, that they'll come sooner rather than later. But who knows, I'm not a DCI insider!
  11. We currently have two "Staff Changes" threads running. Any way the mods can combine them? Anyway, someone mentioned over in the other thread that Derek Gipson (Bluecoats Brass Caption Head) is moving to the UK and may be leaving the corps staff. If this is at all true, that would be a big loss for an organization that could win its first title soon. He's done a great job establishing (maintaining?) the hornline's "signature sound" since Wozniak left for SCV. NOTE: I cannot confirm whether Gipson is leaving, nor can I confirm the fact that he is even moving.
  12. Cavaliers new Executive Director: Chris Lugo https://www.cavaliers.org/news/cavaliers-hire-chris-lugo-executive-director

  14. Hey, while we're at it... 2016 marks Phantom Regiment's 60th anniversary! Hope it's a good 60th, Phantom!
  15. 1. Carolina Crown - The flugel soloist, the red fabric, and the amazing hornline make this ballad one that will be remembered for many years to come. 2. Blue Devils - Not as good as "La Strada," but a gorgeous and melodic arrangement nevertheless. And the little girl made the end of the piece much more powerful than without her. 3. Bluecoats - A genius depiction, both musically and visually, of "slow motion." 4. Cascades - Never knew that Soundgarden and Holst would mash up that well! 5. The Academy - Just a gorgeous arrangement of "Feed the Birds." The A Major chord at the climax gives me chills. And I love the ending with Mary on the chimney. Honorable mentions (it was a great year for ballads): - Cadets - Disliked the counting, but the visual book was just stunning. - Madison Scouts - Beyond the creepy cutouts, the trombone solo and brass sonority was beautiful. - Blue Stars - Great combination of "I Will Never Leave You" and "Send In The Clowns!" - Crossmen - Brass feature at the climax. That is all. For the record, though, the things that looked like white pants were a bit creepy. - Boston Crusaders/Colts - Tied due to their use of singing. Liked it, but didn't love it. - Legends - Gonna show some Open Class love here. Their arrangement of "The Mountain" gave me chills.
  16. Dear Madison Scouts, Please do another all-Latin show in 2016. Sincerely, Some guy on DCP
  17. Will never happen. Maslanka doesn't want his music arranged.
  18. FOR SALE: Fourteen glow-in-the-dark Tesla coils. Perfect for use as an alternative generator when the power goes out. Contact your favorite electricians in Santa Clara, California today. Supply is limited, so act now.
  19. I can only trust that rumor if he's bringing Gaines with him!
  20. The 2015 season is officially in the books. So, with all the drama surrounding the corps this season now settled and the legacies of the shows presented are beginning to arise, what's next for these corps? Scope out some corps and list a weakness that needs to be addressed and/or some type of design element or idea you want a corps to take on next year. I'll start. Blue Devils - PLEASE do an all-Goodwin original music show! His original pieces the last two seasons were amazing! The Cadets - With Hop running design in 2016, there's a chance that the show could end up being a dud. So please, keep up the musical talent level and make some improvements to that guard program. Carolina Crown - Keep your percussion staff! 2015 was their best percussion performance since 2009, and Aungst is really helping with that. The Cavaliers - Do another foreboding yet in-your-face show like 2014. Trust me, that WILL help you! Take it away, my friends...
  21. Well, it's unfortunate that they didn't get what I and many others were hoping for. But thank you for an amazing year, Crown. The judges may think you didn't deserve the win tonight, but you definitely deserved all the crowd support. You are the real World Champions this year!
  22. Finally hearing "Run Boy Run" the way it was meant to be played! LOL
