  1. Jersey Surf is sounding great. I can't get enough of Shofukan... Love that Jersey Surf was able to play for Snarky Puppy earlier today.
  2. Well, Colts made their mark. They were able to displace the Troopers for the 15th spot.
  3. Blue Stars smashed PR in brass. That score difference definitely feels right. Mandarins in 8th for brass though? Ouch...
  4. At this point, I feel like Mandarins have better brass than Phantom. Yeah, Phantom's book is harder. They're not achieving it though.
  5. If Phantom scores higher than Blue Stars in music, I think we can basically call slotting and performance order as confirmed phenomena. Really, all I can say about Phantom is that they're better than at the beginning of the season, and I like their music.
  6. Link to FloMarching article on how they're improving their audio, and Tom Blair's involvement. Looks like they're really committed to improve.
  7. Just came here to post this myself. I read this as a sign that FloMarching really is committed to improving the quality of their product. They've made noticeable improvements throughout the season already. You really have to give them credit for communicating to their customers as well. They far exceed DCI in this regard. I learn more through FloMarching's articles and emails than through just about anyone else.
  8. My favorite show was 2004 Finals in Denver, Colorado. (OP, this is what you get when you phrase the question as vague as you did!) This was my second live experience with drum corps, after prelims two nights prior. I was with my high school marching band. None of us had seen drum corps before that weekend. We were all so completely blown away by it all, yet by finals we had already divided into who we wanted to win, BD or Cavies. It was fun to cheer for our newly adopted favorite corps (one of my classmates can be clearly heard in the recording shouting "go BD!"). We couldn't believe how high the BD soloist could hit. We loved it. The crowd was electric. I can still hear the roar. The surprise ending for BD, where they suddenly filed off into the tunnel. The most epic Vanguard yell that ever was, and ever shall be. Blue Knight's return to finals in front of their home crowd.
  9. That was hilarious, but wow did it hurt to watch.
  10. This literally proves what I said. You're obviously angry and just want to blame whatever target is easiest. The sort of quality control you ask for isn't going to be cheap. Are you prepared to pay to access scores?
  11. Honestly, the behavior exhibited here is inexcusable. It reminds me of people that yell at minimum wage workers when they try and return a defective item they bought.
  12. We didn't have recaps last season. There were occasional problems with the scores the year before though.
  13. You don't learn lessons well, do you. DCI posts the scores. They're the only source. When they go live, all sorts of automated scripts and tools go into action and grab the scores to push them to whatever application. It's all done without human intervention. Quit lashing out, and relax. They'll be fixed eventually. Don't be so entitled to instant access that your day is ruined by a tiny hiccup.
  14. This was DCI's error. The recap was identical on their website. Fact check before hurling accusations.
  15. I must congratulate Blue Stars for beating the Cavies. Excellent job! And wow, Mandarins making a statement about being a finalist! Way to tie with the green machine! /s
  16. Blue Knights: the growth of this corps over the last few years has been astounding. This is probably the first time they have my absolute favorite show for the season (even though I could technically be classed as a homer). Their musicality this season is unmatched, in my opinion. Boston Crusaders: bold show design by the unquestionably most improved corps from last season. I'm enthralled by what they've put on the field. Mandarins: probably the best show design of the season, with captivating visuals and solid music, they've stepped into Academy's role as the beloved underdog. I would love nothing more than to see them in finals. Honorable mention to Santa Clara Vanguard. Their drill is phenomenal. Weber has made a masterpiece, with a bit of Gaines as garnish on top. Their mellophones are unreal. Too bad they amplify horns throughout the show, it really ruins the texture of the sound.
  17. It's passing strange that Blue Knights are simultaneously the most esoteric and most traditional of the top corps this year. They play loud, they play quiet, and they do it without electronics, yet their electronics use is being praised as one of the most unique and innovative in DCI. And I love it.
  18. I would assume Phantom is marching both... I can't confirm that though.
  19. The Cavaliers have been one of my favorite corps ever since I started following DCI in 2004. Of all their shows I've seen or heard, this one is the only one I don't like. Yeah, they have energy and talent, but what is the appeal? I seriously don't get it. Maybe next year.
  20. Phantom's guard is about 20 people too big for my liking, and I can still tell (and detest) that the hornline is amplified. That said, they've balanced their audio better, and the show is improving. I definitely do enjoy the musical selections. I'll probably enjoy the overall show by Indy.
  21. That's 2 shows tonight where changes have greatly improved the product. BK and Cadets, you know how to pull through in the end.
