  1. I was there live and heard a shocking number of missed releases from BD, almost all from trumpets. SCV had one ugly brass entrance near the beginning but otherwise was great. I'm shocked that Cadets brass only scored .2 behind the Cavaliers. Not only did their book seem significantly easier, but at low dynamics I was hearing feet in the sound and less-than-pleasant tone quality. I loved the first 10 minutes of the Cavaliers, but that ending has to be changed. The energy just flops over dead and doesn't recover. People were standing before the end for BAC, but I must have missed something because I don't get the hype. I thought their hornline was 2nd cleanest behind Crown, though.
  2. Cavaliers are bringing it! Beat the Coats brass and the guard and percussion are tearing it up as they have been.
  3. Pretty sure the singing there has never been a live vocalist.
  4. Seems like lots of corps are going hatless these days. What's up with that?
  5. The jump to medaling is an incredibly difficult one, but #### this season was encouraging. If they can churn out shows like that the next few years, LOOK OUT! People are excited about The Cavaliers again, I'm hoping that will draw some great new talent to fill the shoes of multi-year vets aging out this year.
  6. 1. Carolina Crown 2. Blue Devils 3. Cavaliers 4. Bluecoats 5. SCV 6. Cadets 7. Phantom 8. Blue Knights 9. Madison 10. Blue Stars 11. Academy 12. Troopers
  7. I have never been able to discern any rhyme or reason behind GE scoring. It's far too vague and imprecise to be so important in determining the outcome, imo.
  8. Opinions are opinions. I firmly disagree with the opinion that the Cadets are "significantly better in every area of musicianship." Thankfully, so do the judges.
  9. YESSSSS CAVALIERS 5TH PLACE And Crown won brass, guard, and vis and still got 3rd lol wat
  10. Yes!!!! There is no one more deserving! 5th year Cavalier who just performed his final show and one of the best men I have ever met!
  11. Am I the only one who thinks BDB and SCVC are completely unfair to all the other open class corps?
  12. And I think the Cadets' brass is barbarically loud with few redeeming qualities. Great musical score though!
  13. 5th place! Throw down one more time tonight and beat the Cadets for the first time since 2011! SPLOOIE!!!
  14. Is there not a "no response" policy?
  15. Current order will be the final order for 4/5/6, imo.
  16. I've heard the Cavaliers had electronics issues tonight. I can only hope that's why they're .5 behind Cadets in GE now, because that makes absolutely no sense otherwise!
  17. BD has actually been as low as 6th. Kind of mind-boggling. And in San Antonio, the Cavaliers were TENTH while Crown was tied for 1st. Again, mind-boggling.
  18. Love seeing the Cavaliers make great strides! Missing Atlanta last year was a killer!
  19. Are they not? Cadets hornline is loud. The sound quality, however, is not excellent in my opinion. And is it clean? It's a difficult show, musically. Judges don't just judge volume.
  20. The drum corps is definitely staying all-male. I don't know about the indoor perc though.
  21. If you said this in rehearsal people would be losing their minds! Bravo!
  22. I finished reading through the thread after posting and it seemed more people were talking about BD than the Cavaliers in this thread about the Cavaliers. Oh well. Back on topic, eh?
  23. I aged out with the Cavaliers last year. The brass staff were consistently telling us that we were miles better than previous years. I can't understand how that horn line got 10th place with such a difficult brass book in an extremely physical show. I thought we played it very well considering its difficulty and the recordings agree with me. Obviously I'm biased, but it just doesn't make sense to me. In Chester, PA, the night before Allentown, we beat Phantom with 20 holes. Then the following night in Allentown with the full corps on the field and with what many of us (and our staff) considered our best show to date, our brass score dropped .8(!!) and Phantom beat us by 2 points. That's a crazy variation. And after that huge drop, our scores never recovered. I understand that our show design was a major issue. It was difficulty without effectiveness. But our brass book blew Phantom's and Madison's away. And BK's for that matter. I don't understand how their "content" scores could possibly have been higher than ours. I still have high hopes for 2016. Koter is gone, McGrath is VERY good (and Michael Gaines writes for his high school hint hint), Saucedo and others from the "glory days" are returning...it looks very promising. And when did this thread become a BD thread?
