  1. The only problem is that every high school marching band in the country played it in 2005. And I mean every one. The school I taught here in Califronia did it and my ex girlfriends band 3,500 miles away in Pennsylvania also played it. We also competed against no less than 6 other bands also doing the same music. Not saying that means no one should do it, but maybe wait a little bit.
  2. Amen, Brother. If you won't accept sub par musicians why have such an intricate part of your show performed by sub par actors?
  3. There was a love/hate thing with Tater tot Casserole as it was known in CR. I loved it, but most of the corps hated it. I think it depended on whether or not it was fresh or reheated later in the day for snack. Also, Carolyn aka Mom made it best.
  4. I agree. Please don't think for a second that the views and opinions of these people represent the majority of alumni just because they are louder than the rest.
  5. So a couple of things. First of all, Steve is the man when it comes to cymbals. Second, Plate speak, like any other language, has dialects. Words have different meanings on different coasts. The ones you asked about are pretty much the same on both.
  6. 1996 was my favorite... until this year. I will say that 1996 had better music and Kristy Spears (OMFG), but 2008 had the better total package.
  7. I love to watch the pits come by and get a running start to make it up the hill. Good times.
  8. To say I'm deeply disapointed by the outcome is an gross understatement, however I am trying to focus on the much more interesting fact that NO ONE talked about the West Coast corps this year. You couldn't pay people to talk about SCVC and BDB, yet we finished 1, 2.
  9. I am an old school Bluecoats fan. First corps I ever tried out for. First corps I ever made. (as short lived as that may have been) Until Capital Regiment's founding, the only corps I ever considered marching with.
  10. Well, if this is just what we want. I would love to see: 1. Bluecoats 2. Phantom 3. Troopers 4. Boston 5. Mandarins 6. Blue Stars 7. Blue Knights 8. Glassmen 9. Blue Devils 10. Cadets 11. SCV 12. Crossmen not hating. I would just love to see things get mixed up a little. I get flat out ###### off knowing that the same groups will always be in the top 3. I want it to be a complete mystery at the beginning of the season. I don't want it to be like, "Oh my God! Blue Devils in 9th? THE WORLD IS ENDING!!!!" Competition is healthy. Constntly changing finals placements could save this activity. ***for the love of God please take this statement with a grain of salt. I am not implying doom, just saying that competition is healthy. We could use some.***
  11. Well, we have monday off. No excuse not to clean up after themselves this time. Maybe I'll take the power cord to the Xbox back to Sac with me for the day. I can see the paniced look on their faces now...
  12. At the Fremont show yesterday I saw five of them pile out of a rental PT Cruiser. Boring, I know. I thought they would come out of a chimney like in Harry Potter. Man, if you had any idea how far the "Absurd" joke has been beaten into the ground around here in Concord...
  13. My only complaint is no open class APDs. As far as content, I'm so glad that this is catching on. There is a lot of room for improvement, but it is so great to just see it. We will see improvement by leaps and bound in coming years. I say keep it up. Oh and can you do something about the stupid websense at work blocking it? P.s. If you want better audio I've been synching my APDs on window's media player and the videos in brightcove. Blue Stars is a 19 second delay. (Start the video 19 seconds after you start the APD.)
  14. I used to sleep like a baby when I marched. Now that I'm on staff I don't think I can sleep for more than five minutes and I wake up with a horrible stiff neck. I AM NOT OLD.
  15. More than likely that was one of the older trailors. They bought a new trailor in 2006 to accomodate the increased pit and electronics. They also have conections with schools in texas.
  16. Don't count the Royal Blue or Team Yellow out yet. Both are working dilligently to return to the field.
  17. I'm with this guy. I hate knowing who the top 3 will be every year. It flat out sucks. It also hurts the activity. Who wants to march somewhere they know will not be breaking any new ground or has a possibility of moving up? There are always exceptions to every rule, but corps really only have a mobility of 2-3 spots. This is lame. Who would watch Major league baseball if you knew the Yankees were going to win the world series every year? No One. The Cadets, The Cavaliers and the Blue Devils have won the title all but 9 times in the last 37 years. Add in SCV and those 4 corps have won it all but 4 times. With a total of just 7 champions in the history of DCI. This will eventually erode the activity until it's gone. Corps are drying up from the competitive bottom. As costs rise kids only want to march corps which win. Since the same people win every year, those corps who don't win every year will find it harder and harder to fill spots until they eventually cease to be viable and disapear. This will continue to work it's way up until it swallows the activity altogether. I know there is nothing from a rules standpoint that we can really do. You can't stop indiviuals from ring chasing and you can't make them march someplace else because they didn't make the supercorps of their choice. Maybe a grassroots effort of individuals "mentoring" potential marchers of the advantages of Open class or smaller corps and staying where they start. If we could take a semifinalist corps, say Crossmen and convince all the kids to stay until they age out, you could have a champion corps on your hands in 3 years. I don't know why this bugs me so much. I guess it's the disapointment I feel when someone comes up to me all excited at the beginning of the season saying, "Who do you think will win this year?" I wanna scream and say, "Are you new here?!?" Whatever. It felt good to get that off my chest.
  18. Capital Regiment also used a typewriter in 2006, at the beginning of 'Work'.
  19. I have often wondered this myself. I think Pio would probably get a 60.
  20. B Corps did not get new unis this season. We switched the silver sash and white plume back to black.
  21. The first time they put them on from far away I though it was Capital Regiment
