brassomaniac
I think it really depends on the type of show.. having a screamer in a classical show just won't work well.. but a screamer in a in-your-face jazz type show will probably work really well. That's my point. In the mini-corps event, a lot of groups were using bigband, jazz, pop arrangements where is was a good fit. (for my taste, anyway)
TimmyA33
I watched SoCal Dream in the lot after retreat and their screamer had probably the phattest double c i've ever heard. Even went an octave above to triple b and c one time during the performance. blew my mind away.
CorpsBuff
I know this is kind of OT, but has anybody else noticed a severe lack of soloists in the DCI corps as of late? Not to mention the fact that the arrangements tend to shy away from crazy high notes in the trumpet parts? Just an observation. I started a thread on just this topic a little while ago. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...howtopic=101255
Sopboy7
Dave V. From So Cal Dream in mini corps. I just dont think ive heard those notes coming out of a drum corps show. And yes the SPCA was called for cruelty to small animals.

Cathie Wiener
Dave V. From So Cal Dream in mini corps. I just dont think ive heard those notes coming out of a drum corps show. And yes the SPCA was called for cruelty to small animals. Yeah, near the end of the season we started to notice a suspicious absence of squirrels and gophers at our rehearsal site. I'm still gonna claim ignorance. :P

bumo27
exactly my point, Donny...what did we have, 22 competing corps at DCA this year? Half of them are playing Bb's or just about? I know there's some corps like Renegades, that will never make the switch, and that's fine...I just wish that people would stop poking fun and making immature remarks about them (Bb's) That's SO 7 years ago. 7 years since DCI went Bb. Talk about beating a dead horse.
