cage
When DCI lists corps alphabetically the put these corps under T. I always thought you didn't count the word "the" when alphabetizing. I know a small thing, but I have always wondered.
scadesboi
Probably because really they're known as THE Academy, THE Cadets, and THE Cavaliers?
Just A Plain Old Fan
Probably because really they're known as THE Academy, THE Cadets, and THE Cavaliers? +1 Those specific corps have style guidelines indicating that "The" is part of their name. IllianaLancerContra
I think that all corps names should start with "The"
ouooga
Ya, everyone's pretty much right. It's the legal entity name. On a related note, in the years before 2007, the original announcing required that the legal entity be the name used in the announcement. There's a lot of reasons behind it, but check out any show from any year. It will always be "Blue Devils may take the field for competition" and "THE Cavaliers may take the field for competition." (that's the only part that it was required. The rest is "The" or not depending how the announcer felt about it.)
no_itsnotadash
They add the "The" part to be difficult. Honestly

madscout96
I think it's great that corps like THE Cavaliers, THE Cadets, THE Academy, and THE Magic have "THE" as an official part of their name. I think we'll sponsor them. Sincerely, marketing department of THE Home Depot Edited September 7, 2007 by madscout96
dbc03
Like THE Ohio State University. Except generally not as overrated ^0^
Silver_King
Wasn't it The Holy Cadets or The Cadets of Bergen County. That could be why The is in the Cadets name.
