gjdavistuba
BTW, a pet peeve of mine are English Majors that think they have to correct everyone else's English. I agree. Oh, and I think Yamaha percussion sounds great.
BigSnareline
Lets just review which corps play what. Blue Devils – Dye-Nasty Cadets – Yamaha Cavies – Yamaha Phantom – Dye-Nasty Santa Clara – Pearl Crown – Yamaha Bluecoats – Yamaha Boston – Pearl Blue Knights – Pearl Glassmen – Dye-Nasty Colts – Yamaha Spirit – Pearl Blue Stars – Pearl Academy – Mapex Madison – Yamaha Crossmen – Yamaha Pacific Crest – Dye-Nasty Mandarins – Premier Troopers – Pearl Pioneer – Dye-Nasty Southwind – Ludwig Capital Regiment – Pearl Cascades – Pearl Mapex -1 Ludwig 1 Premier 1 Dye-Nasty 5 Pearl 8 Yamaha 7 And before any Einstein points out that the last three corps I listed aren't marching this year - stow it. I merely listed the current world class corps according to DCI.org and looked at what drum company they are sponsored by. Pearl is well represented. If any corps has switched since last year besides Phantom then please feel free to correct this list. Or... a pet peeve of mine is English majors... Oh, and I'm a Math major. (My mom was an English teacher and constantly corrected other's English. She passed that trait down to me, (un?)fortunately.) Kekkles
as long as phantom can keep their sound, i'll be fine with the change... but if they start sounding like the blue devils, i don't know what i'll do.

I doubt that. Why would they sound like the Blue Devils?

Well Phantom's kept their sound the same for quite a long time. Don't think this is gonna change anything.
Kekkles
i'm just worried that having to use the same equipment as the blue devils is going to shift their sound towards what the blue devils sound like... nothing against bd, i enjoy how their drums sound as well, i just don't think i'd enjoy it from phantom. maybe i'm just being a worrying wendy
Michael Boo
...BTW, a pet peeve of mine are English Majors that think they have to correct everyone else's English. In this context, the word "majors" should not be capitalized. (Ducks and runs.)

BD's sound is a result of tuning, not the manufacturer.

BD's sound is a result of tuning, not the manufacturer. but don't they have to use dynasty heads? those will almost certainly sound different from the remos or whatever they had before. i suppose i'm just worrying over nothing... i just hope they keep the snare/tenor sound, that's all. if you all say they'll be fine, then i guess i have nothing to worry about.
