Medeabrass
Here's betting it's still pronounced "finis" by at least half the show announcers, despite including the dictionary pronounciation guide. ha ha...I was thinking the same thing. "Crown proudly presents their 2008 program titled 'fin-iss'"
TealEuph7
Man....and I thought Bluecoats had too many pieces in their 07 show.
splat-a-drag-a-phonium
From what I heard from the last camp the below is correct. Musical Selections & InspirationCandide (Bernstein) -Toccata & Fugue in D minor (Bach) Barber of Seville (Rossini) -Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven) -Mid Summer Night’s Dream #9 (Mendelssohn) Clair de Lune (Debussy) -One Hand, One Heart (Bernstein) -Somewhere (Bernstein) -Hungarian Rhapsody (Liszt) -Festive Overture (Shostakovich) 1812 Overture (Tchaikovsky) -Appalachian Spring (Copland) -Hallelujah Chorus (Handel) The tunes in bold were/are listed in their brass page under the "Show List." I don't think I have seen the other pieces listed in on the brass page. This leads me to believe that these works might just fit into the "Inspiration" category with no musical material actually derived from them, only small musical motives are used, or something of the sort. I think it could work- an entire show of closers! Now, the proof in the pudding is the "OVERALL" show design on the field.
Feathers Up
Page 2 and the drama's flying around already. /sighOh and on topic, I've heard the pieces, and not all of those mentioned are long selections. A couple of them might be just one phrase or repetition. The long ones are Candide, Barber of Seville, and Claire de Lune. How much of 1812 are they doing though? It's about as long as all three of those pieces put together. Or will they just play the same thing everyone esle does regarding that piece and leave out a lot of the best musical elements involved. MarchingXylo
Think they'll have a vocal soloist sing "One Hand, One Heart"? How very "crownie" that could be.
Hrothgar15
Think they'll have a vocal soloist sing "One Hand, One Heart"? How very "crownie" that could be. At this point, I believe the low brass have the "One Hand, One Heart" part during the ballad. There was talk, however, to include a vocal choir in Claire de Lune, but I'm not sure if that idea is still on the table. Galen
13 different "songs"- should be interesting, to say the least.

MGCpimpOtimp
Well it is different than the "simple" choreography they have been doing in the past. Anyways, all original. Should be interesting (at least). IMO, in terms of entertaining, they are batting .500 in that area. Just as long as it doesn't sound like Spin Cycle. Pretty sure the last time Crown played a "song" was in 2004. Pretty sure the last time Crown played a "song" was in 2005
