Matt_S
Me? I read the announcement. It says absolutely nothing about the music they will be playing. Hmm, I see your point. I guess you could say that there's nothing explicit, but when the title of the show is the title of a Copland ballet, and that ballet is discussed further in the announcement, I would think it's pretty clear. From your favorite reference website: "Originally, Copland did not have a title for the work, referring to it simply as Ballet for Martha. Shortly before the premiere, Graham suggested Appalachian Spring, a phrase from a Hart Crane poem, "The Bridge""
ouooga
Seems like a great, interesting and very SCV style show. so, honest question.... do you think SCV has a shot at the gold this year with this program? The only reason I ask is from a discussion I had the other day, and the realization that if SCV does not win this year, Blue Devils officially become the only corps to have won in every decade since DCI began, and I personally want SCV to hold onto that record too! crazymello
Maybe we need slave drivers to work for scv so they can be forced into a first.

I guess anything is possible, but with staff changes, major ones at that (brass), I doubt it.
Lance
Maybe SCV made it a little more ambiguous on purpose. Not everybody realizes that Ballet for Martha=Appalachian Spring...he wrote it for her, and she named it. Not rocket science.

A shot? Sure. A good chance? Probably not. Especially if RenegadeBaritone's quote of the rule book is strictly enforced, as it seems likely that a few other corps will score higher than 88.7 or so. No, it's unlikely mainly because they'd have to come from a long way back in one year, but it's possible, sure. I hadn't noticed that every-decade thing, but you're right.
