DcFr3aK
I think the unis are going to make the corps look BA if you ask me. Being in Crown last year, I got to do quite a few "retreats" with them and, not going to lie, the older uniforms didn't fit them very well. The pants were baggy and loose. The long, slim legs will give them all a height boost and getting rid of the "wings" will also do just that! I just hope the people fitting the corps make sure they all fit like that. If a corps doesn't have a great sewing crew, these new unis might look just the same. Lets hope for the best! AND On the topic of adding red. Didn't they have red accents when they did the Apasionada 874??? I HOPE they leave the uni be, and just march the hell out of the show! Can't wait for this season, it's going to be an amazing one! rut-roh
Looks like Phantom Regiment to me. No way to mistake them with any other corps on the field. Mission accomplished, IMO. As far as the "bando" comments go, hate to break to people, but nearly every uniform I can think of going back many years looks bando. It's the performers inside of them and what they do on the field in those uniforms that makes the distinction. I guarantee you that if the 2008 Phantom Regiment had performed their Spartacus show wearing these new uniforms, people would still think it was the most BA show they've ever seen. Well done, Phantom! Look forward to seeing your program this year...
general_tsos_chicken2
wow 21 pages about a white uniform, its going to be a Bear to keep them clean.... they've been doing okay since 2003! :p
PhantomCadet1934
Ok, the corps posted some pictures from their concert with the Boston Brass on their Facebook page. The uniform looks a lot better when you're seeing it on the whole corps. I'd still like to see a red accent of some kind. The DM uniforms look AMAZING. There's one pic towards the end of the album where it shows it nicely. Link.
apsb1b
I agree, the uniform looks better when with the entire corps, everything comes together nicely. I really hope they add some sort of accent, because I think something needs to stand out from that sea of white/silver. Yeah, the drum major uniform looks amazing. Matt_S
Actually, looking at the album posted on Facebook, I think the uniforms look worse in practice. I think maybe it's the angle of the sash that bugs me. While it looks fine when the corps is standing with arms down, as soon as they lift their horns or lift their arms to drum the sash becomes almost horizontal... and a horizontal stripe is rarely flattering. I also think the way the tunic comes to a point looks a little tacky. I can just imagine running across the field at 190, with that piece of your uniform just flapping in the breeze. NakedEye
Actually, looking at the album posted on Facebook, I think the uniforms look worse in practice. Hmm, I think I am slightly less enthusiastic after seeing the whole effect as well. Mainly because some of the clean simplicity of the previous uniform (which was very powerful and intimidating) has been lost. The narrower sash and abundance of fussy details with buttons and trim softens the whole thing quite a bit. It reminds me of a ballet costume version of a toy solider. That's not necessarily a negative, but it doesn't come off as "ROARRRRRR!!" and in your face as the previous ones. Now with the helmets on, it may change the dynamic of them a lot. Not quite getting the bit of piping that is only above the sash with the buttons, and doesn't continue on the lower "tongue" flap. It disrupts that sweeping line that was put there for a reason. The drum major is much, much stronger. Why? Because it has the contrasting sash and trim color, as opposed to the monotone effect. That contrast has always worked SO well for them in the past. Also it doesn't have that button piping thing going on. They obviously FIT much better and I'm sure they are all much more comfortable in them. I'm sure they're excited about them and at the end of the day, that is what is most important anyway.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing. I think they look fine. I see nothing resembling a horizontal (or almost horizontal) look to the sash on the jacket. Also, there's hardly enough material on that "point" to flap in any breeze, and considering all the material is white, even if there is a minor flap of some sort, it won't be seen. I guess to me, it just looks like Phantom. And I'm pretty sure that when they're on the field with the helmets on, playing the way they do, they'll look even more like Phantom. The post above mentioned that the jackets look "soft" and not as intimidating or powerful as before, yet last year they had a flowing lame (that's la-MAY) drape across their chests. And that is somehow supposed to be more intimidating than this new uniform??
