Cavies 2010

Recommended Posts

Anytime I hear "Mad World" I automatically think of Gears of War now... amazing how a little marketing can even overshadow a movie as good as Donnie Darko.

and both of which overshadowed the original version of "Mad World" written by Tears for Fears in the 80's. To be fair, the Donnie Darko version is a little better though.

I'm sure Cavies will be fine. Just because they came in 4th one year doesn't mean it's the end of the world. They're a very successful drum corps. Every corps has a down year (although I wouldn't really call 2009 a down year), but just like most of the other corps in the top 6, they'll bounce back, I'm sure.

I have no idea what Cavies are playing this year either. Excuse me while I go look that up.

This might not make any sense, but I feel like the Cavies' shows since 2007 have been "slow". Let me preface, obviously, I'm a huge fan of the Green Machine. That said, from 2000-2006 it seemed like the shows were "fast", either done through actually fast-moving sections of the show (Fight Club, ending to 007, Circle of Death, etc.) or through so many complicated drill moves going on at the same time or lastly through some exciting visuals. However I feel like since Billy Joel they've "slowed down" a bit... I don't know if that makes sense, I still enjoyed Billy Joel, Samurai, and The Great Divide, but they seem to be "slower" than, say, Frameworks or Machine.

I bet as far as tempos go the shows probably all have similar ups and downs.. But for me personally when a really connect with a show it always seems to fly by..(2002,2004,2006,2008) but when I dont connect and it (2005,2007,2009) They seem to slow down and drag on forever

I know I'm on the minority in DCP (not that I give a care about that..,) but I thoroughly enjoy Great Divide, and have the whole past season. I still go through the show in my head every day.

I can't wait to hear what 2010 brings, though. I'm also looking forward to Bluecoats and Blue Stars, but I'm really really looking forward to The Cavaliers.
