ftwdrummer
Just an update: DCI.org STILL doesn't have the recaps up for Monday's WV show. Meanwhile, Francisco Franco continues to cling valiantly to death, his status unchanged... ...and Abe Vigoda is still alive.
Galen
Daily Digest for 6/24: Again, two shows today, but a significant contrast when it comes to staging. We've finally got a show in Chesapeake VA. Actually, we've got two, with another split-venue event due to the larg number of corps attending. Open and A Class corps will be at Western Branch HS. It's been a great all-around venue for DCI- nice field, nice facilities. Now let's hope the #### rain stays away- that show's been rained out a lot in the past. Meanwhile, World Class will compete at the newly-rebuilt Ballard Stadium at Old Dominion University in nearby Norfolk. This historical stadium, seating nearly 24000, recently underwent major renovations as the school relaunched its defunct football program, and now it definitely has the feel of a high-profile event: Out west, corps prepare for the lone northern California event of the season, in Alameda, legendary home of "nuclear wessels". This will be the first "big venue" show of the season, taking place at the Oakland County Coliseum, home of the Oakland Raiders. Word is that the Black Hole will be open, so bring your own freaky drum corps costume.
Galen
Daily Digest for 6/25: Midwest corps pay a visit to DCM's old stomping grounds with a competition in Woodstock IL's North HS: And in the south, corps get a visit to the Florida coast when they stop at Pahokee HS in West Palm Beach. Watch out for oil slicks!
Galen
Going to post tomorrow's Daily Digest early since I have Kilties rehearsal and a show. Today is definitely a BIG SHOW weekend, as DCPI enters the giant arenas for the first time. In the midwest, corps will travel to Louisville's Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. This is such a great venue for corps and has me wondering if DCI will consider it the year that they're off from Indy. For this show, corps will be playing to the newly-enhanced back stands. Down south, it's time for the annual Southern Star Cup event, traditionally one of the most popular events on the DCPI calendar. As usual, this one takes place at Brighthouse Field in Orlando. And in the west, corps will visit Stanford University's campus stadium in an event that will coincide with DCI's visit there. We'll be putting our new "phase-cloak" technology into effect so that our corps can march at the same time as BD and Vanguard and not be noticed. And not to give TOO much away, but there've been some rumors flying around that this venue could play a major role on next season's calendar. UltraMello
The Louisville show was a big one for the NEOMAO corps. Silver Streak (World) pulled off their first victory of the season--and only second ever victory! They took top honors in GE (3 way tie) and had a strong musical program to back that. Bronze Star had the day off. Titanium (A) won a respectable second place, taking high visual. The members and staff of NEOMAO salute all corps that competed at the Louisville show and all other shows so far for their dedication to the marching arts. Galen
Daily Digest for 6/28: Coming off a big show weekend Canton MI hosts several midwest corps at the home of BOA powerhouse Plymouth-Canton HS: After hosting last season's event at a small, intimate stadium in Gulf Shores AL, this year's event moves to a larger venue at the recently-opened Spanish Fort HS stadium in nearby Mobile: Western corps begin their swing through the pacific northwest with a stop in Roseburg OR. Nestled in the middle of the state is this little gem of a venue at Roseburg HS:
CloudHype
Things are too quite... Do I need to start throwing around some smack? My word people, it's fantasy drum corps, have some fun.
JonW
/WTT: Six (mostly) trained wolves for two working cannons, powder and shot. I had to pull the wolves from our show, seems they and the judges didn't get along too well. Will toss in two plump turkeys and a gazelle for extra shot, if available.
