Carolina Crown MMX

Recommended Posts

I was checking out the I&E schedule and noticed that there isn't a single Crown member listed. Is it corps policy that members can't participate in I&E, a scheduling issue, or just that no one from the corps wanted to participate? Just curious, anyone with answers would be appreciated.

Pretty sure it's policy.

Denton TX tonight and another 3 C show!

Catch the Cavies and make Hop have to write one of those "we'll keep doing what we do" posts on his FB page :)

Or hopefully Cadets will catch THEM BOTH!

One can dream.

I am still trying to figure out who has my favorite show this year: Crown or Bluecoats. They are the two most entertaining to me so far this year.

Maybe it'll be 'Coats..........Crown has been my undisputed favorite for the last two seasons, but I still can't make up my mind!

From what I understand, when I&E was during Finals week, they couldn't spare the time away from the rest of the Corps. With it in San Antonio, there really wasn't enough time to put something together. But could be wrong.

Saw this posted on CC's FB page:

"Dear Mr. Smith,

My name is Mike Bucalo and I am a professional orchestral trumpet player.

My career began in the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra in 1977. In 2006 I

became a member of the Austin Texas Symphony Orchestra. I teach and perform

actively in the greater Austin area. In my 30 year career I thought I had

heard everything in the brass world. That is until I went to Judson High

School Field tonight to hear the DCI competition.

This was my first time at one of these events so I had no expectations going

in. Everyone played and marched well, but CC came out and blew me away.

Perfectly together, perfectly in tune, no missed notes, from the softest

pianissimos to the Gigantic fortissimos, your corps was the most sonically

stunning of the evening. I was remarking to my colleague from the symphony

sitting next to me, Imagine a group like this made up of all of the best

professional symphony brass and percussionists in the U.S. and this is what

it would sound like.

Thank you for all you do and best of luck with Carolina Crown. And my hat is

off to the young men and women of your magnificent corps.

Sincerely,

Mike Bucalo

Austin Symphony Orchestra"
