drumlaw80
Brainstorm thought -- What if DCA took in every single corps in DCI that was not in the G7, and formed its own national all age circuit with an under 21-division?

I was thinking the same thing... but keep in mind, those kids and their families have gotten used to the type of resources available on the Fan Network. DCA would have to kick it up a notch in that area.

Maybe not, but more co-operation and regional circuits.Getting the potential members that don't make a WC corps pointed to OC and DCA corps.Using Class A as a developemnet tool for both. Nothing novel about that idea, it's been mentioned on any number of occasions for a couple of decades both here and on RAMD. DCA most definitely would have a "no comment" mentality. And from a logisitics stand point it would be quite a few years before it would have any chance at becoming reality. And if it were to come to fruition? Personally I would want to see to it that there be absolutely NO contact with g7 in any manner, shape and/or form whatsoever. But honestly? I love the thought/idea. I think it could be a tremendous healthy boost to the activity overall.

No need for DCA to do a thing here. If a corps comes looking for what DCA offers, fine. Otherwise, why would DCA want to burn bridges by wooing DCI corps? I suspect that it wouldn't be just the DCI bridge but a number of equipment bridges too.
mikita21
Do we need a drum corps show in a different city every stinkin' night of the week? I think that schedule is nothing more than a result of an organization feeding upon itself, getting larger and out of control. The world has not changed so very much that weekend shows, more regionally based, would work. I mean, how about a NY-Penn circuit (as one examplle) with regional shows; the occasional trip to a larger show, and some kind of national (not world) championship that is not a week long. No, wait.......that was 1965. And it worked.
Jeff Ream
for DCA to do it would require vastly more infrastructure than they currently have, and the start up costs would be staggering
camel lips
Brainstorm thought -- What if DCA took in every single corps in DCI that was not in the G7, and formed its own national all age circuit with an under 21-division? NOT GONNA HAPPEN. This would require reworking of the DCA schedule to eliminate Labor Day weekend being championships weekend and move it back two weeks. This would also require some extensive travel on the part of ALL the DCA corps and I do not see that happening either. I could see a scenario where "some" DCI shows could add even more DCA corps to their show schedule to fill a gap in the number of corps appearing at a show. . Much like it is today with DCA corps doing the DCI show calendar in regions outside the NE. A second scenario I could see developing would be some of the DCA corps eliminating members over the age out yeah and aligning themselves with the DCI corps. This seems like a more likely scenario as the faces of DCA get younger and younger every year.
