Lincoln
Lets consider the big picture here. Is it really practical for a drum corps to tour with that many props all summer? Seems like it'd be a nightmare to me. Budget might be another issue What year did Carolina Crown use the giant chess pieces on the field....1996? They dragged those things everywhere. If planned properly I don't see it as a restriction.
DrillmanSop06
Do you really think they are holding back? Lets consider the big picture here. Is it really practical for a drum corps to tour with that many props all summer? Seems like it'd be a nightmare to me. Budget might be another issue I thought the Blue Stars 2010 show was brilliantly designed. I concur - that's why I mentioned logistics as being another possible concern. Lance
You, I'd rather see a show like Tarpon Springs' in DCI rather than the under-developed prop shows we have now. If the Blue Stars would've taken their 2010 show to this level...The depth of programming is just lightyears ahead of DCI. It's...different. But I'd rather see it at this level than what we have if this is the path we're heading down. glad the blue stars used thoughtful editing to avoid ostentation instead of going the other way like high school marching bands do. idel
Who are the drill writers for the top 12 bands at this past year's BOA Grand Nationals? I know some but not all. Please fill in the blank! Avon - Is it still Leon May? Broken Arrow - LD Bell - used to be Myron Rosander but don't think so anymore..... Tarpon Springs - Kevin Ford Carmel - Michael Gaines Kennesaw Mountain - Michael Gaines also? not sure... Marion Catholic - Greg Bimm Lawrence Central - Matt James Stephen F Austin - Mitch Rogers I think? Cedar Park - Union - Center Grove -

He used to have this listed on his website but it no longer exists.

Piper
All buccaneers were pirates. Cookng is the same as baking. Drum Corps is marching band. There's a huge difference between analogies and specific definitions.
soccerguy315
By the way, if I wanted to see the highest levels of performance, I'd go to Grand Nationals. In fact, I'm kind of considering it. If I wanted to see the highest levels of achievement in an idiom I can't pretend I don't enjoy way more, I'd go see DCI. I'd love to have both in one venue...If this is the future of DCI, let's get there faster. I'm excited. And guess what? There's melody there, too! I know - crazy! So... why do you enjoy DCI more than BOA, if BOA has better programming, better music, and better execution (in your mind)?
