if they have 20 applicants, maybe they should auction off the position? they are missing out on a stream of income here, according to basic economics.

Also, it is funny to think that perhaps DCP had a play in this, thanks to the blowup of the Crown metronome situation last year, lol.

I fixed that for accuracy.

Which is why, if you know this, then it makes the announcement hilarious. Garbage man = Sanitation Expert Nurse = Medical Technician water boy = Hydration Expert or Training Assistant Met B***h =

Not surprising. Crown takes their metronome VERY seriously... VERY VERY Seriously... Carolina Crown 2008: Final Passing of the Metronome

Heck, back in the day, we didn't need no stinkin' Dr. Beat and Long Ranger. A drum stick and a gock block seemed to work just fine and dandy, operated by one of the m&m instructors (remember them? we didn't have "techs," we had "instructors"). Oh, and for you young'uns, m&m=visual.

Plus, it was amazng to see the steady beat they could keep when they were completely sober too.

Kind of funny, but just as the world needs ditch-diggers, the drum corps world needs "metronome technicians." Why pay for a rookie staffer to do it, or an alternate member, when you can find a willing kid who'll do it? There's no glory in the position, but it's a way for someone to be exposed to a quality drum corps that might not otherwise get that chance this summer, I guess.

It's not "ditch digger," It's "Trenching Specialist."

So, if they are perfect all summer, would they get an award for not being a "beat off" ?

"College-aged student"? Is that to imply a college student? If so, they didn't specify the major. Metronomic pedagogy? Post-grad preferred?

If you’re a wide body, this may be your opportunity. No running, no uniform problems, no worries at auditions about your appearance.

Speaking of auditions, do you think?

Let’s expand on the qualifications:

- Parents who will respond to fund raising appeals.

- An attitude that there is a pony in the back yard when you find horse poop under the Christmas tree.

No running??? The person running the Long Ranger all summer got a heck of a workout....
