xbones7480
I also agreed with the poster who disliked Crossmen's guard unis. The hot purple just doesn't do it for me. Agree. I know their show doesn't really have a theme, but I was hoping for more Brazilian/Spiritual costuming from their guard staff. The corps needs more color period. Never liked blues or purples next to their black unis. Crossmen always looked great when they added Reds, Organges and Yellows to the costuming. Also don't like how the guard pretty much stays on the front sideline most of the show. This corps needs a WOW factor, and it just doesn't have it right now.
BoyWonder1911
^ perfectly said. On the other hand, this show is just hands down, top to bottom, 10x better than their show last year.
skywhopper
Oh - and I am very glad about them having a baritone solo play the recorded bassoon part in the middle of the show. They still use the recording in the preshow, and another point during the show, but they at least deleted one of the recorded parts and inserted live music. Kudos to the staff for this! Yes yes yes! Loved the bari solo. (I like think they got the idea from me complaining about the synth bassoon ever since the cinecast, jk.) Also, speaking of solos: the Troopers bari solo was incredible! Just when I thought it was over and I was going to be impressed, he goes into an even more awesome section. Wooo!

Crossmen are WAY better then last season.
CrownBariDad
It seems to me that the corps that performed before INT last night were at a decided disadvantage due to weather and inadequate power/lighting. Yet, some on this thread are comparing scores (between before/after INT corps) as if this were a "normal" competition. I think the real test will come this Saturday at DCI Minnesota when everyone (hopefully) has equal performing conditions. [i'll shut up now and go back to work.]
xbones7480
Totally agree. Crossmen are WAY better then last season. Agree. The horn and percussion books are incredible. I'm very impressed with the membership performance of the show. It just seems to me that the other corps staffs are pushing the envelope a little more when it comes that visual WOW the judges seem to be looking for this year, maybe because they are theme shows. I don't think it would take a lot of work to add something like that to the reNEWal show. The Brazilian or Spiritual direction would make sense to me (esp. for the ballad and closer). The audience should be kneeling and screaming 'Hallelujah' by the end of this show. That's not happening, but I think it could; easily! Lord Hear My Prayer!
